architecture is beautiful. however, the most important part of any vacation [not that you are on a vacation, but you know what I mean] is the FOOD! Czech food reminds me of home style comfort food, at least from my limited exposure in Cedar Rapids when visiting one of our contractors.
Can't beat a place with the best pilsner beers in the world.
Czech food is not unlike German food, but can be a bit more adventurous. They have a head cheese, couldn't spell or eat it to save my life, made with the meat from pork heads, spices and other ingredients that you mix and then set up as a loaf and slice. Jaternice, (E ter itz?), a sausage made from pork liver, jowls, and snout, is edible. Kolackys (ko loch kees), a bun with various fruit or poppyseed fillings, are very good, Montgomery, MN, is the kolacky capital of the world. They also eat something they call tiger meat, raw ground beef with spices and onion, unsure if that is a local deal or it came from the old country. Where I live we have the Bohemian Triangle, a part of south central MN bordered by Lonsdale, Montgomery, Veseli and New Prague. Yes, four sides to a Bohemian triangle. The Catholic church in New Prague looks a lot like the one in Prauge, except redder brick were used along with Kasota limestone.
