I'm simply looking to get some more performance out of my 310 without burning it up. I have pics on where and how to cut the holes. I know the carb has to be adjusted afterwards how do I do this?

After I finish the muffler holes and carb adjust is there anyhting else I need to do? What kind of fuel should I run? Is this going to effect the life of the saw?

Thanks for the help.

I have not modded the muffler on my 310 saws but have popped the needle valve caps off on the carburetor, just remove the 3 nuts holding the air cleaner housing and carb I just slid the carb back until the caps were accessible and popped them out with an awl I did not even have to remove linkage.

Under the caps is the slotted needle valves I richened them up about a half turn each counter clockwise, the saw runs great through the entire rpm band now.
