Muffler mod on Jonsered 49sp

Hello

Anyone out there do a Muffler mod on Jonsered 49sp? I have searched the forum and didn't find this particular saw with a description of the mod. I would like to hear from someone about the dos and don'ts.

I am not sure you would want to! 49 is a good performer! Not sure you will gain on that points and condensor saw!

I agree with javelin. The 49sp hold their own still today as is. You really wouldn't gain from a muffler mod. Those mufflers weren't as tight 30 years ago as they are on todays saws.

Yeah the muffler on the 49sp is basically a empty can and I don't think you have much to gain for you trouble anyway.

Besides, it's an oldie but a goodie, take it easy on it.

The sp actually stood for semi pro! Amazing but that saw was a pro as there was in it's day!

Okay.....I guess that would make me a semi pro wood cutter then....back then.

For as old as it is, it still runs very well. I haven't done a compression test but what should I expect from it?

+1 Not much in those old mufflers to restrict anything.
