me too. maybe i can try talk mike into helping me troll you over a beer. i feel he'll need to be convinced it's worth it in person. yer a hard one to troll cause nothing bothers you. i think it's cause your skin is so thick being a monkey and all. alot thicker then a human it seems.

See......I don't drink alcohol. (anymore)

And the reason I'm hard to troll is all the jail time I've done. (a lot was alcohol related)

It pays to be able to roll with it in there. (and I was king of the trolls)

The 044 mufflers do not have baffles in them, and these are the old ones with the larger 5/8 hole already there. They like the dp covers also, but when I tried to open it up more than that the idle & throttle response suffered, and I was unable to adjust it out with the tune. So I put the modified dp cover on the 046, and it likes it!

I don't have the tools to port the cylinder.

I think I will live with the 33/1000 squish. W/O CR, I don't want to make it harder to start.

Adjusting the timing seems to make a nice difference on the 044. When the 046 was stock, it did not seem to make any difference. I think that is because the older 044 jugs are ported more aggressively from the factory, and the 046 needed to be ported to take advantage of the timing advance. That is my best guess.

Without porting tools you can still polish the ex port and match it to the muffler. Also clean up any casting irregularities in the transfers and intake.

Randy, it would be great to meet you also. Whenever you can take the time to make it up here just say so. Maybe correspond it with a GTG, and then there is West Point, the Roosevelt Mansion, Vanderbilt Mansion, etc, etc.

Josh, looking forward to seeing you and your saws at GTG also.

I wanted to get another opinion of how 044 #2 was running so I invited my next door neighbor to give it a try. He has both my old 441 and a 10 mm 044. I have a 32" round of Silver Maple I was using as a splitting block. Just tilted on the side and did a few test cuts. He said it felt really strong. Then I fired up the Smittybilt 046 and told him to give it a try. A smile came over his face and he looked up at me and said "Holy S***, this thing really cuts". Ported saws are nice to have!

Is Vanderbilt Mansion another one of George Washington Vanderbilt II homes?

I've toured The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC several times.....
