I was going to tell a few of my stories but mine got completely blown out of the water by a person I bought some Pioneer parts off today.

I was admiring his near mint 090AV with 36+ in bar. I don't use 'near mint' loosely. I told him he was lucky to have such a great saw. He says yeah, but when I got it didn't have that bar. That big bar came with a Contra lightning he paid $10 for. On top of that he had another Contra lightning he paid $40 for. The $40 Contra came with a bar and chain as well. He had to buy a new bar and chain for the $10 Contra when he put the big bar on his $50 090AV!!! Three beautiful saws and 2 great bars and chain combos for $100.

I'm never going to brag about a good deal again...

Off ebay Rick? How'd I miss that one? Did you hack into my ebay account??? :givebeer:

All of the saws in my sig have been under $100. A few I've had to drive far enough that I was pushing a Franklin including gas and lunch. Some have required quite a bit of my labor afterwards too. The McCulloch 77 comes to mind...:ices_rofl:

Yea it was off ebay recently. I had to drive 2 hours 1 way to get it but it was worth it. I dont think it got the attention it deserved because it was LOCAL PICK UP ONLY! NY states loss and my gain. Thank you Oneida County Surplus...LOL

When I went to pick it up i was wandering around the mechanics shop and i asked about more 1/2" chain and stuff but they didnt have it anymore. Said they threw it all out. i was in shock. They even said that saw was bound for the garbage but they decided to try ebay 1 time 1st. Very sad to see all that stuff go on the trash and glad i could save it

Stihl O25

I was sharpening mower blades and chains at a rental. Owner had a 025 sitting in the corner. Anyway, I worked my way over and this thing was trashed. Owner told me to take it or he was going to toss it.It ran badly, needed a new clutch spring, carburetor kit, gas lines, not to mention a new BC, and finally a new rope.Well after some TLC and $$ it is now well taken care of sitting between the O41, and O28., Ken

Actually, the only saw Ive ever owned that I paid more than $100 for is my 5100 (bought new...but with money from selling free or cheap saws!)

My best scores were my 036 that looks like crap but runs like new - cost me $70. And my 034s that is near mint but needed a new fuel line. That one cost me $100 even.

I did pay $600 for this 090G, but that might as well be $100 considering it's condition. It is all original, including the never sharpened before chain. It did get disassembled and cleaned up.

$5 for a Stihl case. . . .and free saw?

Not my deal but my uncles. Went to a garage sale on Friday and saw a new looking Stihl saw case for $5. He went to pick it up and realized it was a little too heavy. Sets her back down and opens it to find a MINT condition 011. The couple lived in town and used it a couple times to trim shrubs back. He asks the lady if it runs, she says yeah, it's her husbands and she wanted it gone. He kinda got the impression they were no longer on good terms. I bet when he finds his saw sold for $5 they won't get much better!

Homelite XL-12 and 240 with a case for $30. XL-12 needed recoil spring put back in and the 240 was missing a very parts, but looked like new.

Hoemlite 26LCS for $30. Had to replace fuel lines and clean the carb, but the belt is broken.

Like new Sear D44 for $30. Needs a roper type clutch shoe

041AV for $100 with new 18" bar/chain. Needed carb kit

Skil 1631, 2 craftsman roper 3.7s and a Mac 320 for $40. Two craftsmans need carb kits, the 1631 needs a starter cup and the 320 was a basket case.

Sears U4D saw with bad compression for $50. Got burnt on this saw some. There was small damage to piston, so I polished piston and NOS rings. Turns out the cylinder has a crack visible from the inside, around the spark plug.

Going to look at 4 Macs this evening for $30. Only know that one is a running 10-10 and one is a running Eager Beaver.

Going to get a load of old saws for $75. There are several XL-12s, Poulan 3400s, mac 10-10s and some other unidentified mac, poulan and Homelite saws. All have good compression but various issues.

I responded to a craigslist ad for "Several big old orange saw" for $50. I showed up to find two Husqvarna 2100s and one 1100 with bars, chains, compression and fire. I figured $50 each.... Nope. $50 took all three home.
