how many times can you sharpen a chain before you have to replace it ?

I sharpen them pretty much until they tooth is just a triangle or it breaks teeth off.

If ya touch up every tank or two, just taking a couple passes on each cutter, I reckon 15-20.

But hit one nail, bit of wire, pebble in the bark, or raock out the tip, and it's all guessing and cussin'.

Another way to think is your return profit from investment I made $5000 bucks from one small $40 loop of saw chain before I threw it away. keep em sharp while you keep em workin.
