When the case is split, do you scrape off the loose paint?

Inside of the 076 I split yesterday.

yes... It's going to come of anyhow, so make sure it doesn't detach and end up in your bearings.

Scrape the loose stuff and leave it - no new "paint"... depending on the age of the saw, it's lkely powder coat.

Lake, Dose the inside snap ring (clutch side) need to come out for any thing?

Is it just a locater stop for the beaning?

The paint in the case is almost like plastic........I cut around the loose
paint spots and peeled it right off.

What's nice about that old style system is that you can change the bearing (easier with plastic base types) without splitting the case and taking the crank out!
