I have a Stihl 034 av that I'm trying to remove the flywheel to change the points. I haven't been able to pull the wheel off. It also appears that maybe the flywheel needs to be unscrewed from the shaft? Any help getting the flywheel off would be greatly appreciated.
Thank's,
Ron.

Oop's, that's a 031 AV.

You need a puller that you screw in the flywheel, thats why you see threads around the nut.You can also put the nut flush with the end of the crank and use a punch and tap straigth to remove it,but be careful .The flywheel got a keyway.

I wouldn't use the tap method on the 034.. It's a real tight fit and you will likely damage something.

And... you will be very disappointed even if you do get it off - there is NOTHING underneath - the 034 doesn't have points...
