If Stihl vanished off the earth I have to drive 80 miles to buy a Dolmar. I rather use a hacksaw or pocket knife than buy a saw off my local Husky/orange poulan dealer.

I would choose a vintage homelite or McCulloch. At least they would start in under 3 pulls, with my bad disks in my neck I can't pull a husqvarna long enough to get it started.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Your mentally incapable of making this call...you might need a nap.
Your right I could use a nap. The difference between the Husky camp and the Stihl camp lies in the fact that we dont take things near as seriously, were a much lighter bunch for sure, never looking over our shoulder to see if someones closing. We just plug away steadily, getting our work done. And we can order parts online, forgot that one.:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

If they didnt make stihl ???
What would all the yuppies do !!
would they have to change colors on the ice cream trucks ??
would people have to change to a brand they could find an IPL for online and make ordering part easy ??
could you then go to a dealership and get treated like a human being ??
be able to buy a saw with a FIVE year warranty for less then 1/2 the price ??
sounds like nirvana to me :)
first choice handsaw, sharp rock tied to a stick with rawhide,no choice,stihl..

I have 3 Stihl Saws the #1 Saw co. In The Hole Friggin World, so I will never....Never need another saw.

P.S. If they never made another Stihl Saw, Hushy would go out of bussiness......they wouldn't have any Stihls to copy!!!!:cool2:

I still Appreciate your help with picking up my 660.

Personally, I would base it on local dealer support. 2nd choice would be Husqvarna and 3rd Dolmar. Stihl dealer is 30 miles away, Husky 10 miles, and Dolmar 7 miles. I shop at the Stihl store because he knows me by name when I walk in, charges a fair price, and actually has parts in stock. Husky dealer is decent, but pretty ridgid on prices. The Dolmar dealer treats you like he would rather you never came in the door. I was there once, cash in hand, ready to make a purchase and the guy actually told me I would have to come back the following week because he was too busy getting ready for his used lawn tractor auction to sell anything to me that day.

What a mongrel mix that lot Mathew! :msp_w00t:

I noticed there isn't a 660 in that lot!

My real name is Matt Alistair ;)

And no, a distinct lack of a 660 in that lineup :D I gave it a shot old son and really wanted it to work out but alas. The 390XP's are just so much nicer to use...

Tougher? Probably not.
Faster? Not much in it.
Better on fuel? Yes.
Cheaper? Yes.
Better balanced? Sh*t yeah. By miles...
