That pic of the 261 looks like a mini 362. If it runs like a 362 it should be a goodie. The 362 far as I'm concerned was a grand slam home run, that saw is really nice and cuts surperb...

Sure it looks good, but the specs point more at a replacement for the 280, than for the 260! :givebeer:

Try some more examples, and include the Super and Mag versions.......:givebeer:

How does the 090, 088/880 and 780 (same cc as the 880) fit in?

034-56.5 cc-3.4 cu.in.

046-76.5cc-4.67 cu.in.

021-35.2cc-2.14 cu. in.

The super and mag versions are obviously larger versions of the original model.

I said loose.

I guess you are going to tell me there is no relationship?

See the above examples...

com'on Saw you've got to admit it's the best explanation for Stihls model identification since the blindfolded dartboard theory.

They come into 'Ole man Stihl's office and say
"Mr. Stihl we've got a new saw in the werks, we need you sir to name it"
"Ok, give me a second to finish my schnitzel"
Mr. Stihl puts down his fork and finishes his last bit of a very tasty weinerschnitzel,
and walks over to a table with on of these on it, spins it and pulls out three numbers and that's the new saw model.

- Little known fact: Hans Peter Stihl is a rabid BINGO enthusiast.

I surely miss some model numbers that I mentioned earlier on his list, and there still are several "misfits" - I guess there may have been different opinions on the system, within the Stihl system.....

Try these for starters;

"064 5.2 85.0 52 40 6.5 4.8 15.2 - - 2,400 12,000
066 5.59 91.6 54 40 6.8 5.0 - 1 1 2,500 13,000
066 M 5.59 91.6 54 40 7.2 5.4 - 1 1 2,500 13,000

075 6.77 111
076 6.77 111
084 7.44 122 60 43 8.2 12,000
090 6.47 137 66 40 8,000

LOLOLOLOL, good one, LOLOLOL

Funny thing about ole Mr.Stihl. As long as his name is on the saw with that little R in a circle he does indeed call the shots. I doubt though he makes model decisions at the supper table, I hear he doesn't like to be interupted while eating and he hates guys who wear Husqvarna t-shirts, he's known to slap a can of wup azz on one guy for that huh Blood?????

You like being a Stihl dealer? Well not anymore!

Sawtroll that former rep told me yesterday that Husky made two stand out saws, according to him these were the best Husky ever made, the little 242 and the 266. He claimed those two saws were Huskies pride and joy. I've never seen either one. I asked him about the 372, that it seemed to have a big following. He said its a "ok" saw but to flimsy for his tastes. So what are the specs on the 242 and 266, I may have to hunt me up those two for my little collection..

It does take a complete lack of brains or a pair of cast iron cajones, to meet the guy who's name is on the building wearing a Husqvarna shirt.

I guess the guy thought ole Stihl would see some sort of humor in it, guess ole Stihl wasn't in a laughing mood that day..........

They were great in their "day" - but that is a while ago, no real reason to go hunting, unless you are a collector! :givebeer:

I guess he could be a guy that live on old memories........
