My MS 660 is still a champion. For that matter, so is my buddy's 066. Who needs an MS661 and then probably pay another $300 to get it?
Me. I want a saw that I can run without my hands tingling. Sure the 660 is great for some but for some reason it's like a torture chamber on my hands and arms working all day. Not cutting a few cookies. Bring on the 661

390XP. Mods stronger than a 660. Spring AV. $875 PHO. You can't beat a deal like that!!!

Though highly unlikely, one could imagine them taking a long time to add a redesign the saw to have air injection and fuel injection (like their carbon prototype), probably just dreaming here.

My Stihl Shop has no more MS660's in inventory and are not ordering any more. I think the distributor is sitting on MS 660's. The big question is how many 660's are they sitting on and how many of these do they mail out a week on average. This will give us our answer.

Just talked with the distributor that covers all of Iowa and Illinois today. They said expect them in first quarter of 15'. More than likely around the Feb time frame. Said they need to get rid of all 660s first. Im sure it goes for all the distributors they need to reduce inventory before anything comes in.

I think it's been a couple months but when I took a day off from work and ran up to a dealer they got off the phone and said they had 60 some 660's to get rid of first, that could take awhile in this region I suppose. Sucks, we've got 3 or 4 great big oak trees I was hoping to have the 661 for, maybe I'll see if they can't get me a 461 instead and just go with a 28" bar. With any luck, we won't be working on those trees until that time frame...

It seems that the silence on the MS 661 reflects that we need to not expect to see this saw in the US market until some time in 2015. (only 81 days left in the year)

Too bad we have to wait so long. I think it is best to accept reality and get on with our lives. Waiting in anticipation can end up being a waste of time. Sometimes it is much more efficient to accept that it won't be coming out any time soon and get on with life.
I held a MS661 yesterday. Nice!!! Need to wear out a couple of 066's and a MS660 before I would really need one.
