Hey guys- something I'm looking for myself is a Stihl TS-420. I have a project going down this spring where I'll be cutting up a sidewalk and part of a foundation. I'd trade a very nice large, desirable chainsaw(s) for a decent 420. I'm not really interested in any other brand or model of demo saw. A project is fine too.

I work on these CONSTANTLY... we have about 30 in our fleet... I work on ATLEAST 1/day average...usually more.

If you have questions....

I just did a Partner K950 for a friend of mine. It's pretty much a 395 with a cutting wheel. It's got me looking for a personal cut-off saw as well.

Yup, for the most part...they share a few parts.

yup, I got a pretty clean 1250, Needs a crank. Its pretty clacky when wiggleing the flywheel back and forth. I parked it before she come unglued on me.

Really like the TS420's, They have about the best air filtration out of all the cutoffs we've had. I got a few parts if ya find a project saw. :smile2:

I think the crank is ALA: 3120, IIRC....

i have 410/420 parts too... had one that got in a fight with a backhoe 3 wks ago.. :bang:

WOW! good deal. we buy 12+/yr, and we pay almost 900...

I'm only interested in the Stihls. It's bad enough having to get parts for Dolmar chainsaws let alone Dolmar demolition saws.
I will attest to that..

not to mention the TUNE issue with the 'dirty dolly'... work them hard out in the field, and the guys blow the top end  I have 7 or 8 930's and 1030's that are smoked...

Around here any serious constuction outfit seems to favor the Partner/Husky saws as they say there the best.
A HECK of a lot easier to work on... Stihl has NEVER made a TS that was easy to tear down.

15 fasteners to take the carb out

.

Jacob,

I just PM'ed you about a 420 I just got in. The story of how I got it is good for a laugh so here goes...

I scour Craigslist for saw deals and an ad came up Tuesday evening that simply said "Chop Saws". Clicking on it I found the guy was selling seven (7) Stihl chop saws for $125.00!!!! The pic showed all late model saws, 400's and 420's!! This just can't be so, I thought. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up!! Unfortunately it was too late to call (about 11:30 pm) so I called him first thing Wedneday morning. We struck up a conversation and the guy tells me that another fellow called the previous night and was coming this morning. The guy is in the concrete business and knows very well the worth of these saws, even as carcasses; he just want them gone NOW. My rival was local to the saws and I'm ~250 miles away so no way I was going to win that race, or so I thought. The gentleman assured me that he would call if the guy did not show up or the deal otherwise went awry. I went to work bummed out that I most likely missed out on a great deal:frown:

But then...I get a call about 2:00 pm the the owner tells me "Your not going to believe this, but this guy showed up, tinkered with the 420 for an hour and got it running, then he lowballed me to get them all for $109!! Said he never had any intention of paying the $125!! Can you believe the balls of this guy?!" I could hear the guy was still there in the background talking. I said "Tell that guy to F(iretr)uck off, I'll be there this evening, and I'm going to give you $200 for them all, so you be sure you hold them for me!" "Done deal!" he said.

I was busy at work and got on the road about 4:30 and arrived at 8:30. Here's what i wound up with:

 • One TS420 runner needs unknown minor work
 • One TS400 runner need unknown minor work
 • 2 TS400 great compression, quiet bottom ends
 • 2 TS400, little or no compression, noisy bottoms
 • 1 TS420 basket case
 • 2 low time USA made diamond blades.

Here's the ad:

Well my gun wants/needs are biting my azz right now. I am rebuilding a 357xp for a savage in 308. Then there is a bushmaster a4 with a nikon bdc on top. Its on hold for me till I can sell enough saws to pay for. But then again you don't run into a set up like that for 7 bills. The wife is not very happy.

They never are when you buy guns. Less unhappy when you buy saws.

I buy lots of saws. Keeps wifey less unhappy.:smile2:

Done good, for sure....

I made that 039 run a bit more last eve when I put the fuel line back on the carby... I had nothing better to do, since I was OUT OF CARB cleaner. I think the carb kit is all its going to need, that, and the B/C.

Will be at Rancho Varano Friday, come on down with them bad saws you got.

You may have me thinking 460 after all.

The first guy let $16.00 stop him from 'stealing' those saws...some people are so FOS it's amazing.

At one of the local flea markets my wife & I kept running into two brothers buying (trying to buy :msp_ohmy:) all kinds of antiques and collectables. It was clear they weren't buying for themselves, they were buying to resale.

One brother kept saying to the sellers, "Will you take three dollars for this?". Several sellers got really offended, rightly so in many cases. One woman selling some depression got really POd and told him, "I've got those (pieces) priced at half of the book value, what makes you think I'm going sell them for $3.00?". The other brother had to keep apologizing for the lowball offers.

After seeing this scene several times, we concluded that the low-balling brother may have been somewhat autistic because he was totally clueless. Maybe that was their MO to get better deals, but the one brother was clearly 'not all there.'

She's going to be even more unhappy when your hotrod 346 shows up after the holidays. I'll be sure to mark the box "Dangerous, contains firearms and ammunition."

Jimbo- you did excellent. The 420s are great but the 400s really are a good chopsaw as well. We have a construction company here with a whole fleet of them. I'll have to make you an offer on a 420 and possibly a diamond blade if you can spare one.

I know a couple people like that.If they can't get you to knock a dollar off they won't buy it! Strange if you ask me?

It's all about the art of the haggle with some people. One of my grandmas was that way. She'd even ####er on a $0.50 item at a yard sale.

There's a time to lowball and there's a time to whip out that moolah and run home with the goods!!
I don't think it took a genius to figure out this deal.

I'll bring a couple of fresh cans of Gumout and a 272XP. (Did you ever see what a dandy flame thrower you can make with with a can of carb cleaner:msp_ohmy: )

Jimbo

Really, who offers $109? Now I'm going to give you 6 20's and I expect $11 back. WTF!

Nah it was more like "Golly gee mister, I only gots $109, a cracker jack whistle and two baseball card in my pocket! C'mon let me have it, pleeez mister" Meanwhile he drove up in a very late model Chevy diesel P/U. Amazing.

I offered the $200 so the owner wouldn't even think of selling to that guy when he called back (which he did of course about 2 hours after he left:msp_tongue:)

But you have really nice legs :Eye:/\:Eye:.

There's an old guy at the flea market who doesn't mark prices on anything, and he well-known for giving women better deals (the more cleavage the better the price). I'm not ashamed to say I let my wife negotiate prices with him :msp_thumbsup:.

I got a pretty brown haired, green eyed girl up for trades. Very quite, likes to screw around, and loves that I collect saws, doesnt mind if I go out with my friends, not the jealous type. I had her in the shop the other week for a check up and they told me she has a good 50 years left on the old gal!
The not so good... Wears a small bra size.. I guess all the less to sag
Looking for 910 jonsered, 125 mcculloch, or 372 husky. Id consider 088 :) let me know.
P.s not liable for any damages done during transaction :)
