Spot the problem with this one...

Apart from the missing teeth that's a fine looking chain

That one has gone up in price, he started on $1200 a few weeks ago.

He wants $1400 AUD for that saw now. They have gone up in the states too, and the 7900 is $920 here now ($1,085 AUD). Amicks does not carry them any more, but here is another link:

Most guys here get a 6400 for $300 less and put a 7900 P&C in it. Same saw body... this place has the newer 7910 for $880 USD (7910 is said to have LESS power than a 7900 on FF):

Wooow! that is a good price... not that I want a Dolmar saw, but that is cheap. I looked into becoming a Dolmar dealer some years ago, but the distribution in the US is really forked up, and they wanted me to carry a lot of inventory. Too much overhead, and they only have a tiny market share here in the PNW. Stihl is king here and Husky is a distant second. Dolmar does not even show up on the radar.

got an 051 pull down and found this. Asked the owner if it was running fine before he stopped using it. It's pull down due to the crank case gasket letting oil into the crank case. Jugs fine no marks and the rings are not scored either. Thoughts on re assembling how it is? He doesn't want to spend any more on it then he had to, the usual story

Is that the exhaust side? Mother of God!

I was at a garage sale today, no chainsaws but found a Hilti nail gun for $20... might test it on a mini mac :D

Mate that is an absolute bargain! Never fire it into concrete on an angle as you might ricochet one out in your leg. Those things are awesome. I believe you may also need a licence to run one? You do on a building site from what I remember :)

its not worth spending anything on it, i'm with Waynes advise, simple fix that will work.
He will be needing to spend money to do the case gasket tho.

looks like the intake side maybe, the 051 is like the 076 i believe with the cylinder laying out the rear of the saw.... seen a few 076s with damage like that on the intake side due to chitty air filter maintenance just sucking in huge amounts of sawdust and crap. still run well tho lol

You are probably right. A lot of those old Stihl's have had all the felt fall apart and the mesh that's left you could throw rocks through it.

Maaaate, are Dolmar HQ not going to come down on him like a ton of bricks, like Stihl HQ did to Honey Bros? Is it worth the risk?

Not sure. Put it this way, rumors are that he bought the last few hundred (no joke) of the 7900's from Dolmar when the 7910 came out. He's a huge dealer by all accounts. They may not be game to challenge him :)

Still mate, it's hard enough finding good cheap dealers without risking yet another one getting enough heat put on them to persuade them to not sell outside their country. I don't think it's worth the risk to show his website. I'm still pissed I can't get more saws from Honey Bros. Can't afford another one to bite the dust. Please man, can you edit your post? And windy, can you do likewise please?
