Wow that was fast....1-Hour and 59-minutes, no messin around there I’d say. What are you getting for blowdown #s now?

20°.

Exhaust 93°
Transfers 113°
Intake 83°

I'd much rather have had the exhaust and transfers 100 and 120. The transfers were way high, so I had to raise the exhaust that high to get the BD.

The last thing I had up my sleeve was playing with the ignition timing. I advanced it 5° and saw a little gain. I went another 5°, thinking that would be too much, and I think I've hit the golden spot. I've got it tuned to about 13,500. I'm anxious to get it back out in some wood now!

I don't think I lost any torque. I only raised the exhaust 3°. I'm also stuffing more charge in the base now. JJ, did you mess with the ignition timing on yours at all?

I didn't mess with the ignition timing at all, since the intended purpose in my case was strictly milling will long bars in soft wood. The target RPM range in the cut on my builds was around 9500 with a 42" bar and semi-skip ripping chain, and the occasional cut with a 50" bar.

It's now running like I want it to, and is a completely different animal than it was Saturday. It's actually got that wow factor now.

We could get you an earlier WJ carb that's pre-EPA that has a bigger jet and get you a little more fuel and RPM. There's some of the early WJ-69s that have a #72 main jet that make a good running saw.

I'm somewhat confused, are these fixed jet carbs? If not, I didn't realize needle seats were removeable.
