Looking for some insight of what happened with my ridgewood owb last night. I'll start with yesterday I had some thermostat issues so I let the stove cool down and got that fixed. When I went to relight I stacked a bunch of small splits and got a good fire going then loaded in some decent rounds and split on top. I go snow plowing come back a few hours later to load up for the night and smoke is pouring out the relief valve on top instead of the chimney.. Checked the chimney its clear water was a little low. It worried me so I put out the fire this morning I started a fire slwly and let it get up to temp slower and added about 20 gallons of water and now seems to be OK. I'm just wanting to get a better understanding of what happened to prevent it again. Did I get it to hot to quick in the cold weather?
