I have a 026 non pro that I got from my father in law. He cuts firewood for a living and now has a new 260 because the saw shop told him that the 026 had some sort of problem with the piston and would not be worth fixing. My father in law is not that mechanical, and I am getting this information second hand. I looked at the bore through the exhaust port and it looks pretty good, did a compression test and got 167 psi. (sounds pretty darn good to me). The saw runs great, so I am wondering what else I should check (not that I need to since the saw runs so good, but I am trying to figure out what the dealer was talking about).
Or do you think that the dealer just wanted to sell him a new saw??
