Road and Track's Peter Egan wrote a column about this a few years ago and I thought it would be fun for AS members.

The basic idea is that you add up all of the cylinders, in all of the saws, trucks and equipment that you own and you come up with your cylinder count. All of the cars, trimmers, tractors, splitters, boats, ATV's, whatever. It's a test of manhood. The higher your cylinder count.........

A couple of rules so everyone is using the same yardstick:

The wife's car doesn't count.
All cylinders must be in running condition; blown up saws don't count.
Dealers like myself can't count store inventory.
Auto engines must not only be running, but must actually be in a vehicle. (doesn't have to be registered though)

So, what kind of cylinder counts are out there?

Me? I'm a 45, 7 of them saws.

Should be interesting. Maybe even Sap will smile!

Guess I should list them like you guys are doing.........

Dodge-8
Jeep-6
Maxima-6
1960 Olds 88-8
Saws-7
Exmark-1
Cub 128-1
mowers-2
trimmers-2
Snowblower-1
Red Max blower-1
Husky mini-tiller-1
Log splitter-1
And I forgot the Dolmar 309 cutoff the first time, so I'm a 46

oh my, this could get interesting...

3 mustangs =24
3 trucks (one of which is a company supplied truck, but it has been mine since day one and it goes home with me every night. =24

Running saws =10
unfinshed log splitter=1
lawn mower=2
small portable generators (2)=2
brush trimmer=1

That equals 64. 56, if you don't count the company truck.

Now for the non counting cylinders....Some of you have more than me in the saw department, lol

non running mustang engines =24
non running saws=10

Non running total =34

Please don't subtract the non running from the running! lol

37...and I feel shame couting the weed wacker

2 trucks

Let's do the same with HP!

10 chainsaws,log splitter,2 v-8 trucks, 1 v-8 car,1 v-8 cargo van,12 small gas engines(feddish), 2 single cylinder 60's case garden tractors,1 rupp minibike,1 desert fox minibike,mud bug three wheeler,log splitter,4 weed wackers, I guess that would make a total of 64 cylinders.

Hmmmm..... lets see........6 for the 300 straight six in the truck.........1 for the 55AV stihl trimmer, 1 for the only running saw at the moment :( (homie Super XL) 1 for the 1983 Wheelhorse, .........................................................................................................................How about air Compressors?:D I got two more if that counts!!! What's to prevent anyone from padding their count? Go back and edit them and list each item and the number of cylinders it contains, showing it adding up to the total...otherwise I'm not buying it. Sorry :)
