Is it possible to put a 268 p/c on a J-red 625 II or would i just be asking for trouble. I have a pristine 268 and a 266 p/c. I was just wondering if it would be a matter of swapping parts or would I be better of getting a 670 p/c. The reason for my question is I have seen the cylinders sold/listed as 670 or 268 replacements on some used parts web sites.

Yes ,it will fit on your 625,but you need the 268 intake system also. Its different from 625.Installing a 670 p/c ask for the same, you need the 670 intake system, rubber flange, etc. And i think you need the top cover too because the 268-272-670 cyls ask for more space.

will a 268 or 272 cover fit? or does it have to be a 670. also will the 625 carb fit the 268 intake.

I think on 268/272/670,they moved position of the bolt (closest to fuel cap) a bit, cant remember well.Yes ,your 625 carb will fit on the 268 intake and good thing about this is that your idle screw position will be as your 625.They have a diff idle csrew and idle srwe position on 272/670 carb.If you use those carb, you need to modify the cover a bit to reach the idle screw.
