New Dolmar 6400 , No High Speed Carb Adjustment

Hi,

I am a new guy, first post , that has been living in the search function for a long while until today.

I picked up a Dolmar 6400 a few months ago. Took it back to the dealer last week asking if it needed retuned due to warmer weather and the fact the saw had a few tanks of gas through it.

All I got was the "Blink, Blink." Yep, I am on my own.

My Fast Tach showed up today. 6400 was pulling 11500 r's at full bore warmed up.

Fine. Lean her out some.

There was a plug in the "H" hole for the carb adjustment. Every other adjustment hole was open. Idle and low speed.

I carved out the plug and went after the high speed adjustment.

THERE WAS NONE!!!

There was no screw, it was just a flat piece of metal. You cant adjust it.

I am not happy. I can adjust the idle and low speed, but there is nothing there for high speed.

Any advice?

Gonna have to bump this to the top.

Sorry man but not a clue. Never heard of this one before.

This is just a guess, but maybe the plastic screw cover was removed and the screw itself doesn't have a slot in it.

When you look through the "+" piece of the rubber guard there is no slot. Just a flat head.

There was a plastic plug in the "H" hole.

Well pop the black rubber guard and filter cover off and have a look, and maybe take a pic. I've worked on quite a few of these saws and they've all had a slotted H speed screw.

I ripped out the rubber grommet for the idle, low speed, and high speed. What's that shiny thing in the high speed side?



Seriously.....wtf is this doing in there in the high speed side of the grommet. Plugged and slugged. Is this some kind of joke for a "pro" saw.



All is well. My high speed has a slot.

I'm thinking your dealer removed the plastic limiter cap, and in an attempt to prevent anyone from adjusting the H screw he added the pin. That or Dolmar has started doing that on the newest production runs. I actually would prefer removing the little pin than having to mess with the plastic limiters.

Huh, that is interesting. Easy enough fix though. Happy tuning!

Interesting. Thank You.

Since I unfortunately cannot, with a clear conscience, give my dealer enough credit for that , I will chalk it up to Dolmar Corporate intervention. The original plug in the "H" hole was a deliberate design and in there pretty good.

I have zero clue as to what the limiter caps look like so I "assusme" I dont have them any more.

Most saws have plastic covers with little tabs that fit over both the H and L screws, the tabs prevent prevent the screws from turning more that 180 degrees. As you can see the carb on your saw doesn't have the caps, and that's great if you ask me. I hope they all come that way now.
