I picked up this little gem as a P62 but it turns
out it's a P61EX. Not sure what the EX stands for.
Had to go through the fuel system and now runs
unbelievably strong. This is the strongest P series
including my Poulan 655BP's. Someone got creative
with the muffler but it seems to work well.
Check out the video.

Nice saw Lee. I'd be very interested in seeing inside that puppy. That EX is interesting.

I think it's stronger than my 62. Nice roller nose too.

I'd like to see inside this bad boy too.
What ever has been done was awhile ago. Saw was
pretty dirty under the flywheel housing. Notice the
smoke coming off the muffler when i shut her down.
Thats the parts cleaning fluid from my Safety Kleen
parts washer. It's also running 3/8 full chisel skip
square ground chain.
Gonna be my new Pioneer GTG saw.

hot rods right from the factory. My PP455 will tear my 440 a new one,and only weighs 30 pounds more. But these really are my favorite saws

Lee, nice find ! I wonder if EX designates Export?

BTW, I watched the video, and have a qestion: What is with chainsawyers & bird legs ?

Typo?

Yup my PP655 has quickly become my favorite saw. Runs better than any stock saw I've ever run.

Is that the one from ebay? I bid on one that looked identical with same bar.
It looks to have monster torque.

No stock Mac 125 would hold a candle to that. Sweet running saw!

It's interesting that a Mac is the benchmark, but I wonder if you stuck a 60" bar on it if the chainspeed would still keep it ahead of a well tuned SP125c, or a Super 797.
Also, the Pioneer has the benefit of another 10 years of technology. Like comparing a 880 or 3120 to the same 1960's design of the Macs.

I think we all know the outcome if you bring the old yellow stuff up to the newer carb and porting specs.

The Pioneer biggies are impressive, I got to hand it to ya there.
