At our update seminar we were told that the 261,362,461,201 and more models will be going to the M-tronic set up. NO release dates were discusses. The 261M-tronic is already in late test stages in the field. I think you will see the M-tronic even make it's way down in the farm and ranch saws. It helps meet epa standards and helps protect against some to the crap fuels you see in the market.

Another interesting point of discussion was the folks who are using 87 octane may actually be using 83 or 84 octane fuel after the alcohol evaporates out of the gas. Also the white residue you are seeing in carb screens is a olefin polomyer used in the refining process today, it is creating a waxy residue clogging inlet screens creating lean conditions. If you don't have a ultra sonic you want to make sure to replace the inlet screen on every carb rebuild along with the fuel filter.

The 241CM will hit the US prolly very late in 2013 or first of 2014, due to demand elsewhere.

The new "I" series saws (fuel injected) are going to be very simple to work on if they are the same set up as the 500 I Cutoff saw, you talk about instant throttle response, nothing like it exist in chainsaws today, very simple system, easy to diagnois and fix. People are just going to have to remember to pump the primer bulb 5-7 times before starting irregardless if it is a cold or hot start, fantastic set up, can't wait to see it on a saw, doesn't look like it is going to add weigh.

the 461CM will be an awesome saw. i hope they realize no ones gonna buy the 441CM if the 461CM exists. you know if they are phasing the 044/440/441 series out and putting all there eggs in one basket with the 461CM?

Thanks for the reply.

That would be true if the 461 had spring av and modern filtration.

... .

That's interesting, but the M-tronic still is the first generation AutoTune = maybe a bit outdated, really....

point taken...maybe they will make the 441 the new 461? punch it out alittle add alittle timing to get em to rip?
i like rubber av so i don't have an issue there, but filtration is a biggy

Seriously, thats the best you have????

You have never used Mtronics ...... ever.......... its likely you haven't even been within a 100 feet of one.

Now lets weigh that against the fact that you can't find 3 people in the world that have used Mtronic saws that don't like/love the Mtronic system.

Go find a book to read.

How many M-tronics have you run?, Do you not think that it can be updated with software, you are clueless about what is coming down the pike, have you seen a true digital fuel injected unit come out of Sweden yet? You better get ready to study up on spec sheets in the future, fuel injection is going to be where it is at, and guess who was the first to use it on a hand held two stroke unit? The one with the toughtest cutting conditions, concrete dust, vibration level ,rough handling and construction workers, it's a easy transition to a chainsaw. The throttle response makes a 346xp response time look like an xl-12.

Good news. My only mild disappointment with the 261 was lack there of. I'll own one the day they are available.

My M-Tronic fires much easier than my Autotunes. I am only comparing stock for stock also. Now all out HP better buy all orange:)

I don't think so. Throttle response is more complicated than simply adding a fuel injection system. Now if you said the saw had a flatter power curve I might believe you. Truth is ST has you Stihl boys pegged, hell you can't even say the throttle linkage looks a little weak on a Stihl saw without someone getting butt hurt about it. But what do I know I like Poulans.:D

I couldn't be happier that Stihl's coming out with more M-tronic equipment, and I look forward to running them, but I'm not about to jump and cheer about something until I get my hands on one.

Are you saying that a 550xpat will outcut a MS241CM and a 576xpat will outcut a MS441CM? If so, I'll counter by saying that a MS441CM will outcut a 562xpat. There, now we're even and nobody is the wiser.

No what you can't do is make a claim that something is weak, when such a person has never broken one and you can't find 3 people who have broken them. So it isn't getting butt hurt when a long time user of said linkage, knows of over 20 such linkage systems and none have ever broken.

So its one thing to make an ignorant claim that something is weak or but its another to prove its weak due to breakage or failures, and therefore it is a similiar situation where like here Sawtroll has no clue what he is speaking of, yet spouts his opinions as if they are fact, when they aren't, he hasn't even viewed 80% of the saws he speaks of with his own eyes in person, much less run them ........ certainly not in wood.

Its also like you in the past claiming that there was some issue with the Mtronic or some sort, I could search it, but don't feel like it, I ask for the names or locations of the Mtronic saws that had failed, you didn't have any examples when called upon it.

Carry on with your Stihl bashing.

i like POULAN'S TOO! im so happy this imformative thread has turned into a so called bash fest when only something as a throttle linkage is spoken about. i don't really like any stihls but i'm more than willing to try and will get one if i find one that fits. don't care about the color or name of the saw. now if you fellas would let some more FACTS into this thread about FACTS that'd be mighty helpful for guys like me who wanna learn about the new tech and saws...thanks:angry:

Any word on the 661?

Thats one, I'm looking for, mostly for a fun factor when cutting timber.
