I'm no expert on the 2077 & 2083, but I've seen and played with a few. I have a customers very nice clean 2077 on the bench, but it's a bit different than I'm used to seeing.

Never seen one with the offside air inlet and filter mounted in the top cover....Any experts know if this is an early or late variation???

The IPL shows some early 415 have the filter you show too. My 415 came with the newer set up and bought it from guy that bought it new at TSC.

Never seen the Poulan version of these saws, but quite a few of the Jonsereds. They all had the filter like the one in your pic.

So It's an early one then...Thanks!!

IMO yes and betting no air injection on the early 2077. Later had filter like I showed and air injection. Now if they made a combination of other things I dont know. I try to stay in the yellow ones.

Partner design saws made in husky plant. Partner had 7700 710 660, Poulan had 415 425 445 475 505 and I own 1 of each and multiples of some. Jred had 2077 2083 2083II

Never clued into that until you mentioned it....No air injection on this one.

The other thing is all the fasteners are torx / flat screwdriver combo screws, instead of socket head.

Look at the 415 cyl cover bolt and AF cover bolt same as you describe. Seen both used.

This 415 is still the only one I have seen with yellow AF cover to date. The partners used yellow on both af and cyl.

Normal. 2 AF set ups were used on these series. That one you show was used on PP475 and early 2077 if I remember correctly.

I like the other set up and switched my 475 to the newer AF set up.

Then it likely was used on early P7700 (the "father" of that saw family), and early P660/the PP415 as well?

I assume the saws with that filter set-up are the same as those without the fully developed "Air Injection"?

Bought a Poulan Pro 475 new in April 1994 as my first milling saw.Basically a clone of the Jred 2077 & Partner 7700.Incredible compression,as I got older it would practically throw my arm out of socket when pulling that rope.Used it a lot at first, last few years was more sporadic, sold it in Nov 2011.Hated to sell it really but had recently bought a very strong running 1988 Husky 288XPW & was needing cash to help out with living expenses since work was starting to slow down a little.

Miss that beast, hopefully I'll get another someday. Not easy to find I remember.
