What do you guys think of the tree pusher(www.treepusher.com)
It looks like a product based on a really bad idea.
you are safer because you only use the power you need. no uneven pulling or over pulling. any tree you can pull with 1/2 arborplex cheaterjack will push. 20" diameter 90' tall 3minute average. never rush.My number one problem is the placement of the operator. To me it looks like you are doubling your chance of barber chair. Maybe for small trees, but thats it. I not gonna rush out and get one.
done 10s of thousands with ropes and I guess 6 to 7 thousand with cheaterjack one week I cut 300 dead pines average 20"diameter 90'tall I was impressed and my employees said it was safer. I'm sure its not for everyone but it makes my job alot easier. What happened to just setting a rope and pulling it over?
With a pull line that is set up right on a backleaning tree there is no horizontal strain at all on the hinge, the tree is just sitting, balanced on the stump. With any pushing source if it is down in the bottom third of the stem there is a big horizontal stress to the hinge. How can it be safer?
Unless the top of the push poles are fastened to the trunk there is the risk of a gust of wind just before balance point on a backleaner loosening and have the poles drop off and the tree fall back and take the hinge off. Had it happen pushing with a backhoe. Got lucky and the hinge held but I was in a bad spot and crapping!
