converting echo cs400 to 3/8 low profile

I have a bunch of chain from another saw that is all 3/8 0.050 low profile. Is it possible to convert the echo cs490 to use this chain and bar? I looked on Oregon's website and I didnt see a replacement sprocket in this size to convert it.

Can you determine if the bar will work as you have the parts in hand.

The best way would likely be to silver solder the splines from Stihl mini spline clutch onto an Echo drum. Most spur sprockets are 6 tooth. That would only be best if done exactly.

If you have a clutch drum for rim sprockets you could use a 7pin rim for 3/8”LP/Picco:

Part # DS0252 on that page. I have a sprocket similar to that myself. Works just fine. You just have to figure out the bar mount and oiler hole, and make sure it’ll work.
