288 XP...... let the adventures begin.

The 281/288 is a great muscle saw. They're old now but are still a very desirable saw. I have a few myself and use them for big wood cuz they eat wood like hippies eat granola.

    How often sparkplug change?

You seem to put a lot of work into a spark plug that probably doesnt need to be changed. Why not just carry an extra plug incase one craps out instead of changing them all every season? I haven't changed a plug in years. My saws run good with years old spark plugs.

    Husqvarna 281?

281 is a great saw. They have good power and make good torque. I run a 28" bar with full comp chain on mine. Easy to work on and most parts are available. The 288 isnt much more over the 281.

    Foley 308 or Not?

My dad gave me one just like that other than the lamp is gone. I mostly hand file but I use it for fixing chains that get rocked bad or get out of wack somehow.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Same reason pioneer put the big filters on some of their "western" saws. That ash is a bish to filter, its such fine micron.

    questions about you?

I cut wood to heat our house and for friends that are too old or dont know how. My saws range from a 357xp to 394xp. My 261 and 394 have been worked on my Rattler. I dont run a bar any shorter that 24" cuz thats way more bending over than I care to do, I'm 6'4". My favorite is 28" but also...

There may be no horsepower gain but theres a bigger filter so restriction time will be longer. Just my thinking

    Jonsered Chainsaws

I know nothing about these risers and thats why I asked but the 2077 I have used to belong to my boss in the mid 90's and it had one then. This 2077 was purchased here in our little town and I saw one on a 2083, maybe 2188 at my husky dealer. I'm just curious cuz they look cool and they're not...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

These arent nos, they're used but figured they may be kinda rare. I sold a mid sized box of nos stuff to a member a couple years ago and havent had any since.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Thanks again. I'll probably get the other 2 I found. They're cool and kinda rare I'm guessing.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Thanks for the info @Cantdog. I havent put them side by side to see if they're different. I found a couple more if I want them. Are they a "West Coast" thing or just an option?

Got a question for you jred guys. I've only seen these air filter risers on jred saws. Is this a jred item or an a/m part? Theres one on a 2077 I just picked up and have an extra.

    "You Suck" Thread 2019--Pics required!

Freebie! I'm a Husky guy but this 066 has my curiosity up. A friend gave it to me and maybe thats why. He rebuilt it years ago while cutting in Alaska. It has bad bearings again

    Collecting in the hunt again,,,,

I had a 480 a couple years ago and it wasnt even close to my 288. It may have just been that saw but I wasn't impressed at all

I ran this saw when I worked for a logging company in the mid 90's. It ran really good back then. Its kinda cool that I found it after 25 years.

Husqvarna 181 SE Interchangeability, 266SE interchangeability

For your 181 the top and clutch covers for a 281 and 288 will work. Lots of other 281/288 parts will fit on a 181 also. For your 266 a 61 top cover will work. Just make sure its off of a saw with the same ignition set-up as yours, one piece or two piece. The front mounting hole is located...
