Can't Do This Solo. I Need Help.

Hey guys, I purchased a Solo 634 on e-Bay and have encountered something I've never experienced before. When I pull the rope to try and start it, I can only pull the rope out maybe once which moves the piston. The rope won't come out all the way and the piston doesn't cycle the second...

Why Do Stihl Saws Cost SO Much More?

Got news for you my man: In a comparable size saw made by Husky or Stihl, that there "Homeboy" will out work and out last any of them. For build quality, I'll place my C-5 up against any Stihl, any day.

Why Do Stihl Saws Cost SO Much More?

What if you write "880" on it?

To rebuild or just run it

Re-build it. It's the simplest thing in the world to do.

Why Do Stihl Saws Cost SO Much More?

I run an Homelite C-5 and can easily get parts for it. Parts are readily available. I do all my own work. I did a complete tear-down on it and re-built it from the ground up. This is a 6 HP chainsaw and to get the equivalent in another brand, you're talking well over $1,000.00. And the...

    Last Question - Sprocket

It's a moot point now. The crankshaft on the C-52 is slightly thinner than that of the C-5 and C-51. Not interchangeable.

    Last Question - Sprocket

Cut a log here, then cut a log there. Won't be cutting them everywhere, Sam I am.

    Last Question - Sprocket

OK Guys, hope this is my last (dunmb-ass) question: I have both the (Homelite) C-5 and C-52. The C-5 came with a bar and sprocket for a .404/.063 chain. The sprocket is marked "40". The C-52 came with a sprocket marked "SS 3/8". The chain on the C-52 has 80 drive links and each drive link...

Well, the C-51 and C-52 aren't currently running, but they will be. Once I get 'em going, then I want to restore an XL-12.

    My Baby

1985 Ferrari Mondial QV. Just fixed things that wouldn't work when I got it. Remember, it's Italian. They're about as good at building cars as the British. And we all know the British shouldn't even build cars.

    Brand Opinion

So what's the general consensus concerning Poulan chainsaws? I've only used one once that I borrowed from a friend and I thought it was a piece of crap, however; it's lack of performance could've been due to poor owner maintenance or something. I always thought of 'em as just a cheap consumer...

    Homelite super xl automatic

I've owned and used Stihl, Husqvarna, Poulan, and Homelite and in my opinion, the older Homelites are the best saws made. Just got through re-building a C-5 and prefer it to any other saw. Currently working on a C-51 and C-52. Hopefully will get an XL-12 in the future.

    Restoration Question

This may be the acme of stupid questions, but I don't suppose there is anyone connected to the forum here who sells restoration items such as decals or OEM paint colours. I'd like to restore my Homelite "C" series saws. Thanks

I took this saw completely apart, never have done anything like that before. Replaced the rings, then put it back together. Replaced the spark plug wire into the coil and replaced the plug cap. Took the carb off, cleaned it, then re-installed. Re-gaped the points and plug. Replaced the fuel...

Thanks guys. You've pretty much answered what I needed to know. I'm ready to cut down some redwoods.

    Chain Help

Well, in the Homelite specifications, it also states "52C" or "52L". What does that mean?
