How many saws are in your "plan"?

I usually bring 4 saws when I go cutting. I have probably 20?? On the shelf mostly ported 60 to 70cc saws. I bring saws based on what kind if mood I'm in.

Stihl ms 461 flywheel side bearing NLA??

6202 eh?? Well then . I have a box of FAG c3 grade 6202s in my shop. I haven't split the case yet so was wondering if there was some kind of magical special bearing behind the flywheel lol.

Stihl ms 461 flywheel side bearing NLA??

hi everyone, I have a 2015 ms461 on the bench here. The saw has a clutch side bearing failure, the bearing held together and to my surprise the top end came out unscathed. Emailed my local stihl dealer looking for bearings.. Their reply was the flywheel side bearing assembly is NLA and I have...

    Husqvarna 266 carburetor

Early (pre 85') 266se saws have different port timing and are lazy compared to later 266se/266xp saws. Its easy to spot an early 266 as the cylinder number is zn11 vs. Zn13. As for which carbs run best I'm not sure. My ported 266se has an HS 163a and runs like a scalded cat. I was going to...

    Dear Stihl...

Weird all my stihls have a dirt collecting device right on them . Its like all the dust bypasses my flippy caps and gets pulled right into the my airfilters. 5 mins of run time on one of my stihls and the filter is packed. I thought that was normal til I started running husqvarnas.

    Looking to buy a Ms441

I've put some miles on 3 different ms441s that my buddy has had. Just got home from the woodpile and he had a 2007 441 with him today. Honestly the 441 is ok but I'm not in love any of the ones I've run. My 044 arctic with heated handles and carb seems a lot lighter then a 441 and power wise...

And that is how I look at it.. Was running a buddies super strong ported 372 on the weekend.. Couldn't tell ya what the porting looks like, all I know is that saw runs very very strong and has done so for the last 5 or 6 years.. How they run and how long they last is all I care about.

Strongest saw I own was built with his methods also. Squish is .030" on that saw. I did no machining to that saw at all.. It runs like a scalded cat and more importantly I learned something. Like maybe I dont need to do machining ro build a strong saw. Time will tell if thats true, I'm not...

That is so true. This time of the year where I live its super super cold. It makes the wood very hard and even loose grained wood like poplar feels like concrete.

Heres the thing about Youtube, its a cross section of the population no more no less.. Anyone can have a YouTube channel and anyone can scrutinize what they see on YouTube. The main difference between YouTube and tradition media is on Tv they have an entire editing department whose soul goal is...

Yes he got a refund. I'm not going to comment on whether the rebuild was "less then stellar" or not.

And one more thing, I have another identical 266 (2 months newer then the first one) so I'm going to do the same build again and see if its a fluke or not. And no theres no machine work in this recipe. I expected to use my lathe but I didn't need to.. Also no timing advance. Makes a fella think..

As for those 266s, I just built one using tricks that I got from a mutual friend of ironhorse and I. He told me what Harvey does and I tried it. To say I'm a bit happy with how strong my 266 is now is an understatement. And just for clarity,I don't know Harvey at all, never spoken to him...
