If you need to be rescued...

Sometimes I can get company issues and public policys mixed up. I attend alot of training. I get alot of company training every year. The scenarios we use are based on the fact that their are no emt on scene. The few competions I have been involved in are based on ITCC rules and procedures...

If you need to be rescued...

Maybe what I was saying is not a written standard. The fact remains you can not put a backboard on an unconsious climber hanging of an 80ft stub. If the emt's are on site why do you have to say call 911 and give them our location. The response time on emt's is longer that it would take to make a...

If you need to be rescued...

I don't know all the in and outs of liability on rescueing someone. To me most climbers know what aerial rescue involves especially if they have attended any kind of tree climbing competition. The industry standard is to stop bleeding if you can after reaching the climber then support them the...

    Climbing Line

I started out climbing on true blue it worked pretty good for the amount of climbing that I did at the time. I then switched to safety blue that ties really good. Have been climbing on blue streak for the last three years and love it. I climb on a 120 ft yellow jacket rope that I won from Tobe...

If you need to be rescued...

The cost of a set of spikes should not stop the fire dept from rescues. What would they do if a lineman or telephone guy need rescue they couldn't use their non insulated ladder truck or they would be in trouble to. Their are over 300 tree companies in the metro atlanta area. Their is no logical...

    Vertical mulching

I have done alot of vertical mulching It works really good on trees with compacted soil. It is alot less damaging than radial mulching. Mulching help with the interaction between air water and soil. I usual use a 3'*3' pattern and fill with pea gravel It tends to allow air and water flow for...

Hey spike sorry to be chapping your A $$ again. I'm sure your a nice guy. I have not met very many tree guys that I don't get along with it's this long distance relationship that we seem to be having. I started tree work when I was in college. how do big companies like bartlett and davey make it?

If half of you knew what you were talking about you would be dangerous. I can't get to specific but those guys in the big green trucks have several divisions that operate independant of each other. R/C crews make more per hour per man than about 95% of the tree companies in the country...

    Lazy discrace of a "climber"

I have not had any problems with lazy workers. I have not had what you would describe as a groundie in 3 years. Everybody climbs, drives trucks chips brush ,ropes or loads wood. You are given a job to do it gets done. Some days I may not feel like climbing or the tree might be covered in ivy...

Using crotches or using a pulley

I have found that ropes last longer removals go faster with a block or two. I hardly ever use a natural crotch or wrap ropes around tree. Rigging equipment gives a constant predictable amount of friction with out messing up your ropes.
