Boss working on spider lift during lightning storm

Hopefully, you also planted a seed of doubt in the minds of that ground crew. They may look at other safety violations with a more critical eye, and choose to work somewhere with a more safety-conscious mindset.

    During Storm Clean Up Today....

If anyone gives you any guff about wearing chaps, show them my boo-boo from 2016. If that’s not enough, I have a pic of the open wound in the ER for them. This was from just touching my knee with a saw coasting down out of a cut, about 20’ up a tree. Barely felt it, in that moment. Frankly, I...

Cordless Chainsaws and Outdoor Power Equipment

I picked up the Kobalt 80v in July, and last week started using it. Very nice. It comes with an 18” Oregon bar & chain, but I put a 14” on it for use in the tree, since I already had it. The noise factor is definitely an advantage, and it’s nice to not need muffs to run it. Also nice to not...

Cordless Chainsaws and Outdoor Power Equipment

I use my chainsaw infrequently enough for the carb to give me a headache, when I do need it. My next saw will be from the same battery family (Kobalt 80v) as my mower and blower. Worth the reduction in maintenance issues, for my use.

75 Live Oak Trees Topped in Dallas

This is a link to an NBC5 story about 75 live oaks that were topped in front of a business. More here: "Expert Says 'Irreparable Harm' Done to 75 Live Oak Trees"

Sold a good saw = headache

Absolutely! Plus, you want that legal paper trail, in case this escalates. Being the first one to make an official report can carry some weight, when they're trying to decide who's right and who's looney tunes.

Bought a new Poulan Pro 5020 to see what there about

    That's a 4218, NOT a 4818.

Bought a new Poulan Pro 5020 to see what there about

Here's the pic I found of several cases of the PP4818A saws (from the Southside Bargain Center site.) The pic on the boxes looks very much like the 5020, to me:

Bought a new Poulan Pro 5020 to see what there about

BTW, someone had mentioned the PP4818A, and when I found pics of the boxes on google, it certainly looks exactly the same as the 5020. Has anyone checked the EPA tag to confirm if it's the same CC? After reading through all this, I was thinking an 18" bar might be the best compromise length, and...

Cool. Thought I was just me.

How can I ID this chain?

I realize this is a VERY old thread, but just in case someone is looking for replacement chain for this, it's what I've been cutting with (2008 Ryobi TP30.) The drivers are .043 gauge, as SawTroll said. The original Carlton is a safety chain, but (since I discovered the rock one of my trees had...

Bought a new Poulan Pro 5020 to see what there about

I must have something set wrong, as I see absolutely no pics from LegDeLimber, but clearly, the rest of y'all can. I do see the pics JeremiahJohnson has posted, so I'm not sure what might be the cause.

Bought a new Poulan Pro 5020 to see what there about

I'm still wading through this thread, so please forgive me if this has already been answered here... 1) Given the same price, is there any reason to choose the Sears version over the Poulan version of this saw (or vice-versa?) 2) I notice Walmart currently has these new for $219 (other places...

Appropriate steps to detur firewood thieves

Try a search at amazon.com for books by George Hayduke. If nothing else, they're an amusing read.

ANyone deal with Arbor day foundation? I have had bad exp.

Folks told us when we got the trees that "they all die." Ours did very well, in spite of their first year being one of our worst drought years, here. It took quite a bit of attention to keeping them watered. I really think most people do not keep these trees watered well enough, and without...

ANyone deal with Arbor day foundation? I have had bad exp.

My wife and I did this last year, and were pleased with them. We had two die, and they sent us a complete set of replacements free of charge. All the others are growing nicely, in spite of those who told us they'd all die. It's possible they went to the wrong address. We've had both UPS and...

    Climber was stealing from me.

OP, it seems to me this is clearly a legal matter, so when you spoke with your attorney about it, what did he say?

    Chaninsaw sharpening question.... Crooked cut

I use the Dremel, also. It's not hard for the teeth to get to be different sizes with it, especially when trying to grind out damage. As others have said, the teeth need to be checked for uniformity. When I hit a rock in the stump I was cutting this spring, I wound up having to use a caliper and...

    Wasps on pin oak?

The Wasps in your second two pics look like the "locust killer" wasps we've got here in Texas. I've seen them congregating on various plants around the yard in the daytime, I assume resting in the heat. These guys leave piles of dirt outside freshly dug 1/2" diameter holes in the ground, where...

HELP Re: Manual / Gas Pole Saw Selection for Clearing Road, Fence and Downed Trees

One consideration of a longer pole is to allow you to get higher limbs while NOT standing under the limbs. A shorter pole might technically be long enough to reach the limbs you want to reach, but if it requires you to stand directly under the limb to cut it, that's a recipe for an injury. As...
