Stihl MS460 floods when I try to start it. Help!

I started a thread on this a year and a half ago and thought the problem might be fixed, but it isn't. I have a really nice 460 with very low hours. I have owned it for 6 or 8 years and until about 2 years ago it was competely trouble free. It idles as it should and runs great with good...

    Flooded Stihl 460

I have a clean stock 460. I flooded it today. Removed the spark plug and dried it with compressed air. Now when I try to start the saw it has a nasty kick back and jerks the rope out of my hand. I turned the saw over a few times with the plug out--maybe not enough times? Suggestions please.

    High speed mixture on 346xp

I have a 346xp ne I bought from Neal Murphy here on this site several years ago. He no longer appears here. It has been a great saw and for years I left the mixture settings alone, but it clearly was very rich and needed adjustment. Neal told me he acquired surplus saws from a utility company...

Need advice on 346xp fuel lines

I have a 346xp that I bought from Neal Murphy on this site about 4 years ago. He rebuilt it with a Meteor piston and it has been a great saw. I use it pretty regularly and have put quite a few hours on it. Absolutely no problems until today while filing it with fuel it leaked out of the right...

    Help with Oregon Chain identification

I have always used Oregon chain 21BPX072G. However the chain is now identified on the pack shown by a supplier as 21BPX 072CK. Is this the current version of the same chain? Specs seem the same, 72 links, .325, .058.

    Dolmar 7900 carb question

I have a Dolmar 7900 that suddenly started running very rich at idle and power. Pulled the carb (Zama with C3M on the casting) and under the cover (bottom, I think, held on with 4 screws) there is a loose flat piece of metal about 1/8 by 5/8. I cannot see where it came from. Any help or...

    Stihl Quickadjust bar question

I have a 16" bar and 3 chains (one new) from a Stihl .026 I killed with bad gas. I sold the saw for parts and replaced it with a Husky 346xp from nmurph, so I have no use for the bar and chains. I was going to give it to a neighbor for his new Stihl 250 (has the right chain) but his is a...

    Help with an 026

In the course of some less than completely skillful work on an 026 I managed to bend and distort the flat spring that provides tension on the choke lever and holds the contact to turn the ignition off. Does anyone have a picture of what it should look like, or a link to a reasonable clear...

    290 Stihl Farm Boss question

I have a very early 290 (only one I have seen with the old style oil/gas caps). Great saw until I ran over the handle with my backhoe. Needs a new handle and air filter cover. It is the early "flat" style case and cover. I can find decent prices on the later style handle and covers, but not...
