Yep half a day in the woods and I just had to run it more so I just cut a tanks worth of firewood love it. Stole the 24" bar and chain off the 460 with sprocket.. 404 and pulls beautifully. Starts super easy.. thought it would be harder with more compression, but I'm used to my 051s .
Tuned the carb a tad richer.. I'm no pro but when it got hot I couldn't hear four stroking when I backed out of the cut.

Is it worth it to switch to the new style air filter assembly?

If you have the opportunity to pick up a used cheap one I would if not no biggy. The filters are just cheaper is why I say that. And a little better filtration. Richer will run cooler so that's not a bad thing.
