Hi gents,

If you own a stihl 08s, can you please share a photograph of the AV sitting inside the AV pocket under the saw? In fact, please share a few photos under the saw - it would be a great help to rebuilding the damaged areas under mine. Thank you.

Warm regards,

Tom

It's just to brace the handle to the main saw body as it isn't otherwise attached. This is one of my S10's as it was easier to grab off the shelf. It actually has an 08S side cover on it...
Thank you! I really was hoping for a picture like this so I could see how far the plastic bit is meant to go inside the pocket. Need to rebuild mine due to rot :(
It doesn’t go in all the way without a clamp to force it all the way in. Here it’s clamped in with a vice, otherwise it will only sit half way 3D1A65F8-0CCA-4E7B-8971-88C6192E32A7.jpeg

The plastic prevents forward movement of the handle which may put strain on the handle mount on the sprocket cover/oil tank and cause the cover to crack. Looks like you will need some reinforcement besides JB Weld over that portion...

Thanks mate, yes will be using a combination of JB weld and fibreglass. I’ll need sand away the paint and do repeated heating / degreasing of the area so I can get a good bond across the whole thing.

Here were the results of a previous project:
