Pocket knife.
This Timberline satin stainless with hard rubber grips has been my everyday carry for 17 years come this July. Nice size, not to small to grip, not to bulky to carry in pants pocket.15842594371981706747104528369557.jpg
Only drawback is the belt clip likes to loosen up.

I have been carrying one like this for over 20 years. I'm on my 5th or 6th one now. I was renewing my carry permit the other day and you can't bring weapons in the building, they said my knife was a threat. I said they all had guns.IMG_20200315_043417810.jpg

I carry this Leatherman clipped to my right pocket everywhere it is legal. And, I miss it when I can't have it (carry on to airlines, and an alarming and growing list of other places):

Wasn't expensive, not the best steel in the market, but the two screw driver blades come in handy, and the carabiner doubles as a bottle opener.

I also own a very handsome Benchmade Mini Griptilian that I am afraid I'd lose if I carried it every day, so it is my special day carry (SDC?):

Truth be told, I have more than a couple other knives that are more purpose driven, like for skinning, gutting, sailing, knot untying, but that wasn't the question was it?

Nothing fancy. Had it for about 6 years. Love the paraframe style. Nice and lite. Use that knife for everything from gutting my deer to cutting my steak at the table lol. I have anothe just like it that is light grey as a back up if i cant remember where i set it.

About 8 years ago i lost my favorite knife that my dad gave me. Cant recall the make but it had remington engraved on the blade. I would give anything to have that knife back. I lost it at the boat launch when we were up moose hunting.

I used to have a fixed blade knife, but I use a knife many many times a day and I never found anything with good enough steel to stay sharp very long. So now I do these utility knife things. Much better. One-handed opening with a simple wrist flick. This one doesn't have any blade storage, but it's the best one I've used so far.

This one from Masterforce (Menards) is nice with the tool storage, but the little wheel at the top is what loosens the grab to release the blade. It was always getting caught when pulled from the pocket, releasing the blade in my pocket or as I open it. I filed it down so that a fingernail can open it, but the wheel gets loose so much and doesn't hold well anyway, I managed to slice my hand because of it, and the blade doesn't hold all that well anyway. Plus it's too bulky.

I had a couple other models I tried, but the one I first showed is the best I've used.

Its funny how habits are formed. I grew up in a filling station truck stop and started carrying a knife and a small pair of pliers on me when I was ten years old. I have done repair work or maintenance work my whole work life. Pretty much only had two full time jobs in my life other than farming and other side jobs. Starting working at the last of the two jobs I have had. Had a guy showing me the ropes at the new place and we got some parts in so I pulled my knife out to open the box and he almost passed out. He said put that knife away before someone sees it and you get fired. That was the last day I carried a knife. Only thing you could have in that plant was what they called a safety box cutter that the blade is spring loaded. I haven't carried a knife in the last 15 years. I may have to start again now that I have retired from there.

I’ve been carrying a victorinox knife in my pocket for...ever.

And sometimes a multi-tool too. I have a couple. The leatherman is surprisingly good steel. Decent, anyway.

gotta always have a tool on-board...

a sturdy pencil or pen or cord or belt or a myriad of other things are all better weapons than a non lock-blade puny pocket knife. Silly

I’ve got a bunch a knives but these are my two favorites. My first knife , a Buck made in the USA and given to me by my dad in the middle to late 70’s . The other is a automatic Benchmade that my best pal carried all over the Middle East through multiple tours of duty .. he retired and gave it to me. I carry one of these two every day. 00B0E97E-DBCB-4D3B-AA49-606C29489F5D.jpeg

My buddies:
Knives, the most basic tools.
-Boy Scout knife I carried to grade school ( like all the boys). Non PC, and no one died.
-Ancient Marble Arms knife given to me
-Mora, everyday working.
-Kershaw folder, for more suburban life
