I've done several modern Echo saw before but I think this is the best 60cc saw I've ever built.

The compression was really low stock.......we fixed that though. :) After machine work it was at 215psi. That's too high for a work saw in my opinion......but after raising the exhaust it ended up a 185psi, and will probably climb a few points as it gets broken in.

I ended up getting tunnel vision and forgot to take pics of the port work, but you guys have all seen too many pics of my hacked up work as it is.

I have some videos uploading.

Here it is stock in walnut 18" B&C 7 pin 3/8 full chisel.

I will not deny that these newer Echos are top notch saw IMHO.

I think the CS600P is the BEST saw in the Echo lineup...!!!

Waiting on the videos..!!..

Very nice casting in the jug, quad port design, and a hemispherical combustion chamber. That adds up to a saw that loves to be modded. :)

I guess I need to get my hands on one.
I seen that 520 you ported awhile back, I was VERY impressed!

Gonna start the hunt, thanks again Randy for sparking my CAD.

After mods which included a popup piston, full woods port, and a piped outlet in the muffler.

Here's a shot of the tach in the cut with the bar completely buried. The wood is pine and it has a soft spot in the center. Still at over 20" in diameter it's a good test piece.

In pine.

The one 600P that I did shocked me more than any saw I think I've ported. I just didn't expect this kind of performance from an Echo! No popup in this one, just a woods port.

Awesome!! Looks like it would be a good handling light weight saw.

Def makes quick work of that pine dont it.

Randy,

That is some VERY impressive work! We all know your quality and I like the way you post before and after videos. The owner and everyone else can see just what has been done to the saw. Wow! The performance gains were more than noticeable, they were a little shocking for the size of the saw. I'd love to know how this saw will be running 6 months and 12 months from now. Thanks for taking the time to let us see the potential of the Echo.

The combustion chamber and squish area made me scratch my head a bit before cutting. It was pretty low on compression so I knew it had to be increased. It when from 145 or so to 215psi with very little cutting.

I'm with you on wanting to see how durable this series is after modding. Maybe we can get Dennis to keep us updated as time goes on.

I've had a few of those apart for repair work, and after a few years running them I think they left a little on the table with the gen 1 version. According to the Echo rep for my area the gen 2 version gets +10% hp and an aluminum top handle. I'd like to see if the difference between stock and modded is as pronounced with the gen 2 saw. When are you going to do a 500p, capped port cylinder, should be an easy one to hog out.?

What a difference in both saws! Good thing I'm brand loyal to Stihl and have a lot of time to do my cutting, or I'd definately have to get one of those and have it modded. Dang those saws rocked!
