Hi Kevin,

As always you have an incredible grasp of the obvious. The valve mounting and or lack of it is very poor and will certainly be a serious problem soon. However I think the non adjustable 4 way is a ticking time bomb. Not only is it not near strong enough, there is no way a round with large knots can be split without running it through the 4 way. So people will do it anyway and then bust the machine and post on a firewood forum that the machine is junk.

Notice how he has to wait for the wedge to fully return in order to remove the splits because they get stuck under the wedge.

Am I crazy to think a lot of that splitter (wedge, toe plate, etc.) looks a lot like the Northern Tool stuff?

I agree. Maybe a little less hook on top.
