What oil pump worm gear puller will work? I have a Poulan puller but its too small for the worm gear. Any other ideas for its removal?

can you take a pic? there was 2 different pitches, one 'fine' and one 'coarse'.
if it's the 'coarse' pitch, a husky50/51/55 etc. puller should work.
if it's the 'finer', good luck finding a proper puller. you may need to make something.

I've worked them off with a couple of screwdrivers before, but its a PIA. The coarse ones are still available, like $7 I believe. I'm not sure on the finer thread ones.

Thanks guys for your input. In looking at the gear I'd say its definitely coarse as there are only three threads spread fairly wide apart.

Some photos of something I made to remove the gear

It's made from a 1/2-3/8" NPT adapter and various pieces shown on the second photo. The threads on the 1/2" end are 14TPI which matches the oiler gear, but it's a little too large in diameter. Just shove a small piece of string or rag on the threads to keep things tight.
