Where can i get screen? like a square foot of it in the right size that stihl uses.

What size are the openings, Mcmaster-carr has a lot to chose but not sure what will work?

I got a set of three stainless steel, plastic framed strainers for a couple of bucks at the grocery store. I kept the big one, gave the wife the little one, and "sacrificed" the middle sized one for mufflers. The cool thing is that this stuff can be opened or closed by stretching it. I like it.

I got a few mufflers done with it. Just used the last bit on the 261.

This will tell you the size mesh, probably. The states out here all use this.

Madsens has the real stuff for sure and it is pretty inexpensive to buy. The shipping would be more than the mesh piece.

It is required to have it during fire season here.

nothing comes up for anything stihl, MS, 660 ext...?

cant find anything at Madsens either?

Phone Madsens tomorrow. They will have it because that screen doesn't last forever, in fact it seems to frequently disappear.:) I'm one of the checkers of screen in saws much to the delight of fallers. It is a requirement for cutting in the summer out here. If not, I know the other saw shop, Service Saw in Chehalis, WA has it. You can google them for a phone number. They're an excellent shop too. Both deal in Stihls

I get no results either. Perhaps the site only works during fire season?

If your talking of mesh for ported mufflers, see below.
Federal permitted mesh size:

Saw: Exhaust system in good repair. Screen-type spark arrestor of 0.023" mesh or less, qualified under US Forest Service standards.

#30 mesh has an opening of .021"

Woo-hoo! #30 mesh is legal! And allows airflow around twice the stock mesh. I bought #30 mesh for use on the sides of modded mufflers. I try not to open up the front because your exhaust is inches away from the cutting area.
