I have yet to find an alternative here, and I would be interested in buying some from someone if they have more than they need.... or have a stash of it that they cannot use.

I can look around here and see if the Autozone stores have any left. About 6 months ago I was buying a bottle or two everytime I saw they had some. How many bottles are you looking for? You are looking for the Mobil 2T?

I have 3 pints of Mobil 1 MX2T oil that I'm willing to part with.....PM me if interested, Mike.

I sell the Amsoil 2 stroke synthetic. My amsoil rep runs it and the Amsoil bar oil in all his saws.

Earlier this week I stopped by a local Auto Zone and they had two quarts left. When the cashier said, "that'll be 2 cents", I was a little surprised. She told me that they are clearing out the last of their inventory. Then she checked the surrounding store inventories. I picked up 19 quarts, at a cost of 19 cents.... no tax even. Where are you?

You are kidding, right? About the 2 cents for a quart of Mobil 1 2T oil?

I am in the Portland, OR area. I was getting it as the Auto Zone stores around here, but it is long gone now.

Yah, Mobil 2T synthetic. I am looking for 3-6 bottles I guess. Enough to get me through the winter cutting season.

Anyone found a good replacement for this stuff? Echo seems to be the only synthetic that I can find with a JASO FD rating. Castrol 2T dyno oil smokes too much, and that is just about all they sell around here any more (other than 20 types of TWC-3 outboard engine oil, which is no good for chainsaws).

Ever give a think to Stihl Ultra oil?

It may be what I will run when there is no more Mobil 2T.

Stihl Ultra is hard to find around here. Not all dealers carry it. Most that do only have the tiny bottles (and that costs a fortune). Most dealers have the plain orange bottles, and maybe the semi-synthetic. Lakeside said that the semi-synthetic is not nearly as good. The JASO ratings on the full synthetic were not as good as the semi-synthetic though.

I also looked at the Husky mix, but my Stihls would probably just puke that stuff up if I fed it to them.

No kidding about the Mobil Racing 2T, it is only 1 cent a quart, regularly was $8.79 a quart. I was as surprised as you are. I bought 4 at the first store, 2 at the 2nd store, 10 at the 3rd store and 3 at the fourth store. All of these stores are nearby, at the most a 15 minute drive. Another store is supposed to have 3? I believe, however that store is about a 40 minute drive south of me. I still have the 4 receipts as I have had some good laughs when showing them to my friends. If it'll help, I live just a couple miles from the Stihl factory in Va. Beach.

Last time I looked the O'Rielliys Auto Parts stores around here have it on the shelf. The price was $8.50 a qt. though, I would be happy to gather up some for you if you wanted to pay the UPS shipping as the USPS won't ship oil. PM me if you would like me to check further for you.

Castrol Power 1 Racing TTS (JASO FD)
Silkolene of whatever flavour you want
Motul 710 (JASO FD) or 800 2T off road (MX racing oil)
Agip
Elf
Maxima......

there are stacks of good synthetic two stroke lubes around.
Go into a bike store and see what they have on the shelf for the MXers.

I 'spose I shouldn't mention there is stacks of M1 2T left here on this side of the Pacific. I just walk straight past it and pick up the Motul 800 2T ;)

o2man98,

Read carefully, Amsoil Saber like the rest of the Amsoil two cycle oils is not JASO-FD certified. As a matter of fact it will not pass that certification, it says "Recommended where JASO-FD is specified". I have never liked the way Amsoil hypes it's products with carefully worded advertising copy meant to mislead us "Skim Readers"

mtgrs737,

Read carefully, Mobil 1 2T is not JASO-FD "certified" either which is the oil in question in this thread. Besides, whether or not an oil is certified means nothing if it still meets those requirements.

From Mobil 1:
Applications - Mobil 1 Racing 2T is recommended for lubrication of two-stroke engines used in the highest performance motorcycles, snowmobiles and lean oil/fuel ratio chain saws. It is ideal for applications where API TC or JASO FC performance standards are recommended. The product provides outstanding performance even in the harshest operating conditions.

Specifications and Approvals - Mobil 1 Racing 2T meets or exceeds the following industry specifications:
API TC
ISO E-GC/E-GD
JASO FC
TISI Meets

EDIT: Here is the M1 2T data sheet in case you would like to skim it. http://www.mobil.com/UK-English/Lubes/PDS/glxxenpvlmomobil1_racing_2t.pdf

What town might that be in?

The bike shops here are limited to a few big ones. Only stuff I found that was truely rated FD by JASO was Redmax. But it was a fortune, as was Elf. Motul has several flavors out there, and some of the other labels are confusing. I got a list of JASO rated 2T oils from another thread on AS. Most are FB or FC. Very very few are rated FD.

I will go out on a limb here and say that I will run oil that is not JASO certified in the proper mix ratios and in a properly tuned saw, and when I burn up the piston in my free Homelite XL I will raise holy h3ll on this board. Until then I will use what has always worked for me, Husky XP or Stihl HP Ultra.
