tryin' to sneak another oil thread on here are we? :monkey:

sorry for the post i see nobody is a fan of them. I was just wondering from somone who runs the saws everyday what they thaught would be best for the saw.
Why shouldnt i be getting a 660? cause i asked if anyone knew of a better oil?
Matt

The reason for the sarcastic and otherwise off-humor replies is that there are so many oil threads posted on AS asking exactly what you are asking. There are too many of these threads here, actually. We are so tired of them that we throw tomatoes at them, see?

Any new Stihl saw will take 50:1 gas to oil mix. Stihl recommends any Stihl oil, but most people here recommend a good 100% synthetic. Like Lakeside says, you can use Stihl Ultra. I use Elf 2T. Less smoke, and better revs, and well, better sawing.

BTW: Mix oil packets are for weenies. Buy good premix oil by the bottle in pints, quarts, or the gallon. You are buying a 660 for Christ's sake man! That is one hell of a big saw there. Step up the bar, saunter into the room here with a calk (pronounced "cork") swagger like you own the place with that saw there. Then sit down have a beer, and tell us some tales of your cutting with that saw. 60% of the people on this site are Stihl fans. We know what a 660 is. We ain't trash talkin' the saw.

A new 660? Like Lakeside said...RTFM. Anythying you pay a thousand dollars for and can be carried in one hand deserves good treatment.

What are you going to be cutting?

#1 Rule of owning a chainsaw... If you have someone who wants to borrow a saw all the time, go out and buy yourself a Wild Thang... It's cheaper to buy the POS saw now than to fix your $1000+ saw later.

Just my 2 cents.

I dont buy cheep stuff, it just waist my time and money. I just wont let anyone barrow it, ill let them use my homelite 150 that i use to cut roots!!
Im amaised that a homlite saw is that good, its 100% metal and i dont give to ####s about it but its the only saw i cut roots and stumps with.

Citgo air cooled 2 cycle semi synthetic

I'd run Citgo air cooled 2 cyle. It's in quart bottles at fleet farm for about $3.00. I'd run it 40:1 since your going to be breaking the saw in. Also I'd run some Premium gas with NO ethanol in it. Should last you a long long time running it like this. Citgo is semi synthetic and is cheap at $3.00/quart. Just my two cents
