OK, people, with ref to this thread - http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=85238
The badge man has been in contact and given me prices. The more of these we can have made, the cheaper they will be.

I've asked him for a price to produce one, single, individual, on it's own, lonely, illegitimate bastard badge, to check quality.
That's going to cost me £120 ($180) regardless of what happens. I'm going to fork out the cash for it out of my own pocket, and hope the guy gets it right - I've told him you are all terrible nerds who won't accept anything less than perfect. :D
Then, I will post up the best pics I can take of a NOS badge which should be arriving tomorrow, and the reproduction one, side by side.
If it is good, hopefully we should be able to get a good run made - the badges will be a few dollars each, nothing more. I'm not making any profit on this - BUT I have decided to add a dollar, or possibly two dollars, onto the price of each badge to go go to charity.
The charity I chose is called Cancer Research UK - http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/ .
I know most of you are from the US, not the UK, but the research affects us all - and I am sure there are few of us who have not been touched by cancer in one way or another. If you don't want to donate, feel free to knock the money off. Maybe give it to another charity, of your choosing. Maybe give it to a homeless guy. Maybe keep it for yourself - I'm not going to push my morals on anyone. If you want to donate more, feel free to add some on. I will post up the cheque to them once all is done.

THE IMPORTANT BIT!!!!

Please, regardless of whether you have PM'd me about it, emailed me about it, or whatever, put your name and the number of badges you hope to buy in this thread, unless it is super-secret and you don't want anyone knowing how many you would want - in which case PM. That way I can easily keep count in the thread, and order the right amount of them. I won't hold anyone to it - this is just where to put what you think you will buy, not a contract!
Payment by any means which works - paypal is ideal, but any other method you have will do fine ( bear in mind I am in the UK, so US$ checks probably don't work, I think!)
Also, if any of our glorious sponsors would like to buy some, or lots - feel free. It's all raising money for charity.
Just think, your poor Stihl, it's white fading to yellow, it's orange peeling away... why not treat it to a brand new badge for the price of a Big Mac? (delivered - and tags don't taste worse when they are cold)
I'm only going to do this once, as I can already feel the paper cuts from licking envelopes... so get your names down and give me the numbers. Or I will flood your stores, your dealers, your homes and gardens, with BLUE MAX saws.
I have checked this with Darin and been given the go-ahead, nobody sells these so no-one is being done out of sales.

Cheers,

Patrick.

This is great!! Man, i love what you're doing. Charity and old school badges. Get me 6 of them, let me now where and when you want the money, i'm in.

Thanks,

Lex

hummm copy right infringement?

I have already spoken to my Stihl dealer, when I wanted to buy a genuine badge - he rang Stihl and asked, then asked about making a run of them - their answer was basically "We couldn't give a ****, as long as he isn't pretending they are our products or selling something that we still sell"
And they are NOT Stihl products, they are reproductions, as I think is pretty clear...

Oh, and from the previous thread, as we have just passed the 25 mark - "Price for a run of 25 is £6.00 = $7.08 per badge, The price for a run of 50 comes out at £3.50 = $4.96 per badge - significant savings for the larger run!, and whatever small amount the shipping (a stamp and an envelope!) may be."
Add a dollar or two or ten or whatever you want for the charity, when we hit fifty we are rolling... 100 makes them even cheaper and saves more lives...

PS - if Stihl would like to add to the order they would be more than welcome - as said, I'm not making a penny out of these (I originally started it because I wanted a new tag - now I have one in the post, so have nothing to gain as I have only one Stihl saw), and they would be helping a very good cause at the same time. I can't see them complaining...

Cheers,

Patrick.

Haha, I could drop them to your house if needed, the next time I'm on my way to the island! :D
See your fancy new courthouse, by the way? I dropped a 25 litre drum of Fernox from a ladder onto the boilerhouse floor when it was being comissioned. It burst.:givebeer: :D

Lifted from fernox site...

"Application and Dosage

The recommended ?in-use? concentration of the product is 4%. One 4 litre pack will treat an average 3 to 4 bedroom house. The product can be introduced via the feed and expansion tank or injected directly into the system via a radiator or filling loop. "

Haha NOWHERE on that site could i find anything about aerial bombardment from a ladder!! but i bet your way was quicker! :)

and a big credit to you for the cancerresearch donations! Theres bound to be quite a bit of interest for these badges.

Postage should be around $1.50 by the way, surface mail. I would prefer that everyone decide the same method of postage, so I can just dump a load of packets on the post office counter and have them all done at one time. Airmail - maybe $3, I haven't weighed them yet! And Airsure (signed for) is around $6 extra on top.
