Hi everone, excellent site. I have been wanting a 660 for a while now to go with my two lonely 460s.But the other day I ran one of a good friends 390s and I really liked it. I've always been a stihl man but let me tell you that husky felt and sounded so sweet. My question is how does the husky hold up it looks a little plasticy if you know what I mean. How does the 390 or 395 compare to a 660? Thanks

If you plan to keep them stock get the 660 with the DP muffler cover... If modding go with the 390xp. The 395 is the one with the most power stock but its a little heavy and has an outboard clutch and weak brake system IMHO.

I'll keep it stock for now. I'll probably just mod the muffler and save the 50 bucks.Where do you all order your stihl big dawgs, big clutch covers and 3/4 handles from? I assume I have to go to my dealer? I looked at bailey and didn't see any but some aftermarket stuff. Thanks Jake

The wrap version comes with the handle, dawgs, and cover. Cheaper to get it on the saw new. Muffler mod is easy on the 660 just cut the exhaust hole out to the slit and extend the deflector.

The 390 is a better saw in regards to less vibration. I feel that they are a more reliable product as well. Also....they are way better balanced than a Stihl.

I just went through the same debate for myself. On monday I ordered a MS660. I've alwayse hand and used Jonsered/Husqvarna on my saws but our local Jonsered dealer doesn't handle anything over 71cc, there isn't much for Husky dealers. The John Deere dealer where I spend a lot of time and do business is also a larg and well stocked Stihl dealer, and is verry good to deal with. The pricing on the saw was also more atractive than others and other dealers. Also a Stihl distributer is only 60 miles away and a lot of things come next day.

I orederd one with the full wrap handle to start with, regular handles are cheap on ebay, but full wrap handles are harder to come by.

I've also got other Stihl bars and can run the adapter on my Jonsered, I can keep all my chains of the same gauge/pitch. Just a few reasons why I went with the Stihl, could have just as well been the Husky, not likely I'll need much of a dealer for either, other than initial purchase.

I've got no complaints with my 390. It is a pleasure to run! A 660 would be a better choice if you're constantly running 32"+ bars in hardwood.

If you're already familiar with 460s, then the vibes should not be a surprise with the 660.

660

I bought a new 660 last Monday night, set it in the garage, and it hasn't broke down even once yet, just resting there as it is :) But after getting it, I havn't lost any sleep that I made a wrong choice. I'll use it later this week, but in my brain I'm a happy camper right now.
