Now that the vast assets of the "Fisher Small Engine Repair" have
merged with the immense acreage of "Manton Small Engine Repair",
a lot of mower testing/beer drinking is required, so deep ontological
issues arrive in the beer fog.

I started musing on why the hell I spend countless hours online helping folks fix stuff for free, and I wish to pose the question here to others, hopefully
getting a response from some of the members that actually help others.....

I started working/fixing things, because I like a good "whodoneit" mystery,
and think that folks dismiss chainsaw repair as "simple", "easy", etc.,
are themselves simple.

I have been a part of an "expert" forum since the ice storm, and I got to
thinking about it, hard... This site is making advertising dollars off of folks like me who like helping folks, and why in the h ell am i even involved?
I have been giving online advice since 1999, and to date have absolutely "No
Gain" for my efforts, of endlessly repeating myself, being abused, etc..

I have a hard enough time justifying being here, taking abuse from guys here,
never getting any respect here, helping everyone I can..... Sniff..........

My question here for the chainsaw experts, is "WHY???"

I know full well why I do it, but do you? And is it worth it?

Entertainment value???

I know my reasons, but what are yours?????

Rep points don't pay any dividends, unless you are a high school cheerleader.

Sorry, rambling, but on topic.....

What are your reasons? Do you really feel abused?

I'm here because I like saws, if I can help someone, I'll post a fix or at least try. I could see a few members getting paid for their mass knowledge of saws but I bet if ya asked them, they would decline. Just how it is on the 'net. We need a group hug.:chainsaw:

Yeah, I agree, but the really good ones, why do they do it????

I know why I do it, not that I am any good.....

Sniff... I am dung.....

But, why would anyone that was any good even bother?????
They/we must have another agenda.... I know I do....

There is always that BIG Lost Episode on the tube tonight. You could curl up in a nice big blankee with a hot coco and watch that. WDO

Because it's chainsaws and social networking, two very powerful and primal forces in human nature. Now I just need to meet a woman who likes saws as much as I do and life will be harmonious.

Why am I here, here meaning AS in particular?

I like the group here, nice people, not a lot of bashing and immature crap you get on the "Pickup Truck" or "Motorcycle" forums. I like working on and using OPE equipment and there are a lot of like minded people here. Also there is a fair amount of entertainment from the stronger personalities arguing and butting heads.

Why do I try to help?

I have gleaned vast amounts of useless and some usefull data from boards like this, probably saved a bunch of money learing how to do specific jobs with help from folks like the ones here. Sharing the little that I know is how the system feeds itself and continues to be of use to others. I think it would be selfish not to try and help, to repay in a sense.

I'll have to fix me a drink and ponder that one a while. ;)

Chainsaws is one of my interests.Once in a while I can learn something and once in a while I can maybe help someone else.

I also enjoy the GTG's. It's fun to meet others and share ideas and have a good time.

I'm a student of just about everything around me, and an Ekspurt at nothing.

Folks here are yakking about Tree's, Saws, fixin' saws, Splitters, stoves, Gardens, weed whackers, and stuff that defys any category..

Lotsa stuff to learn, and Lotsa good folks to learn from and compare notes with.

Fer instance. The Stihl 441 will run just fine if ya pee on it.:hmm3grin2orange:

Ya can't get that sorta priceless info at Harvard, no matter what ya pay for a credit hour!!

Stay safe!

I'm here because none of my friends or family will carry on an intelligent conversation about chainsaws, cutting trees, which wood burns better or splitters. I have to get my "fix" somehow. It's theraputic to find out that I'm not the only one that finds enjoyment in power tools:)
