Why am I here?

To stir up **** and learn something in the process. Also it's nice to be able to disagree with someone and have fun at the same time.

btw, I'm not simple but two strokes are!:greenchainsaw:

Fish I think it is because you have issues of insecurity and helping :newbie: gives you a boost of self confidence jmo. Sometimes someone more capable butts in and bursts you bubble and you learn something from it but what do I know I am still trying to figure out how you doubled your money by dismantling a new stihl and selling on the bay lol:cheers:

Sniff........

What issues?????

Bursts my bubble? SawTroll has corrected me on some obscure Husqvarna
tidbits before.........

I was devastated, but I rebounded.

Lakeside is not a crankshaft whacker, I happen to be a habitual one....

I usually only hop in here with advice when the general population is
steering a guy into dismantling his saw, and not doing the correct, simple things to check first.
But my question is "why".

Lakeside's take on it is very true.... sad, but true......

Working on saws and trimmers, they are simple, yes, but also can be
troublesome.

On the other forums, I usually would jump in when the OP was getting
steered in the wrong direction, as I do here. Here, I tend to have fun, as
for the most part, the other responses are usually on target.
Lately, however, I have been doing it because these new guy's posts are being ignored. You think you guys are getting tired of repeating the same thing, post after post, I am real tired of it as well.
I still think something could be put up, like another forum, like a
common question/faq page, and a select few could make posts/threads,
and all of them being "sticky". A thread on mods, repair procedures, etc...

Just "spitballin", so to speak........

A "Chainsaw Repair" forum would be great. No new threads, just the stickies that are already there.

I started the thread on the topic, and it was "sticky" for a day, but the
idea withered and dropped off.

I admit that other thread was another futile attempt, to ease my full
feelings of insecurity, and a pathetic, cry for help and attention.....

Sniff..........

But it was a damned good idea.......

One thread on repair is not enough. threads that would cover tuning, fuel problems, ignition, modding, etc. would be needed to cover all topics.

A couple of the other sites (metal working, machining and machinery etc) I'm on do this. They "archive" (after editing out crap posts) the good threads, and list them in a away that makes them easy to find. I spend more time in the archives than the site...

It has to be a lot of work for someone though.

No, I mean I started a thread bringing this question up, I was thinking of another forum for the newbies, to go to find posts about fixing, modding,
etc.. Instead of filling the forum here with stickies. Indeed, it would be a lot of work, would need it's own moderator, to make sure what got put up was
good info, etc..

The idea was dropped with the realization that it would be too much work,
I am not very computer savvy, so I suppose it would be.......

I like to keep the idea bouncing around, to the betterment of the site
as a whole, err hole.... well.....

Kind of like my "Media Cat Chain Letter" thread, I just want to help you guys.

Actually I just post here and on other forums to baste my massive ego.........

But I do come up with some good ideas from time to time.............

I beleive you helped me out b 4 fish and I thanked you, we look up to you guy's for guidance. I have learned alot from almost everyone on here and
if I could pay for the knowledge i've aquired over these past few month's i'd gladly do it. Saved me from dealing with a dealer that will not touch modded saw's and I am truly gr8full. I enjoy reading your posts and look forward hopefully to read alot more. Hang in there bud it'll be ok.

Now that the vast assets of the "Fisher Small Engine Repair" have
merged with the immense acreage of "Manton Small Engine Repair",
a lot of mower testing/beer drinking is required, so deep ontological
issues arrive in the beer fog.

I started musing on why the hell I spend countless hours online helping folks fix stuff for free, and I wish to pose the question here to others, hopefully
getting a response from some of the members that actually help others.....

I started working/fixing things, because I like a good "whodoneit" mystery,
and think that folks dismiss chainsaw repair as "simple", "easy", etc.,
are themselves simple.

I have been a part of an "expert" forum since the ice storm, and I got to
thinking about it, hard... This site is making advertising dollars off of folks like me who like helping folks, and why in the h ell am i even involved?
I have been giving online advice since 1999, and to date have absolutely "No
Gain" for my efforts, of endlessly repeating myself, being abused, etc..

I have a hard enough time justifying being here,
taking abuse from guys here,
never getting any respect here, helping everyone I can
..... Sniff..........

My question here for the chainsaw experts, is "WHY???"

I know full well why I do it, but do you? And is it worth it?

Entertainment value???

I know my reasons, but what are yours?????

Rep points don't pay any dividends, unless you are a high school cheerleader.

Sorry, rambling, but on topic.....
fish i know how that is trust me i know what i dont understand is why are people thinking im you ?

and dont listen to the ones that are one tract chainsaw minded that put poulan homelite echo down i know you take time out to help people with poulan issues so does modifiedmark and others on the poulan line i notice how that line takes abuse just like the others

i sometimes stay quiet till i see the need to speak up and i see that need boils down to people dont realize how much help us people that give advice etc. is worth

do we ever get thanks for that i very seldom personally do on those questions i answer too sometimes i dont get around to answering before someone else answers first so i just leave the thread be

for examlple do i charge for ipls for the homelites and macs no but should i start charging to take my time to build the pdf from scratch which takes time to do

etc. but do i charge no reason why i love to help keep the magnesium saws running

what does bother me though is i send the people the pdf and they go elsewhere to get the parts

thats what i dont understand

so cheer up you are not alone on this i face it all the time myself
