My brother in South Carolina recently had a massive stroke that left him mostly paralyzed on the right side. He's the sole provider for his family. In addition, because of the economic downturn, his daughter and son-in-law (both good kids) had been depending on him for help until things get better.

He is going through physical therapy at the moment, but the prospects of his returning to his old job are slim. He will be eligible for a disability pension from his employer, but that won't kick in for 6 months.

I've talked to him on the phone and, although his speech is slurred, I can tell he's keeping his spirits up. My brother, Jock, is a man's man and would do anything for a person in need. It pains him to admit it, because he's fiercely independent, but he finally broke down and told me he needs help with the medical bills and to keep things going until his disability kicks in.

I'm going to raffle off my MS660 to raise funds to send to Jock. You all, my Arboristsite family, are some of the finest, big-hearted people I know. I hope you all don't think I'm taking advantage of your kindness, but I know good people when I see them, so I thought I'd come to ask for your help.

My next post will be the details of the raffle.

I'm in to help, but don't want to be entered to win the saw since I won a saw in a raffle on here last year, and want someone else to get a chance to win.

Don't give up ANY hope!
My wife, (in her 60's) a Real Estate Attorney for the Corps of Engineers suffered a minor "clot" stroke in January. She recovered fairly well and in about two weeks was ready to go back to work.

When she suffered a fairly large "bleeder stroke".

There were times we were preparing for burial. I was advised on getting caretakers etc. The doctors offered minor hope. I slept in her room at the hospital thru April.

However she pulled thru. After months of moderately intense physical therapy she's back at work 3 days a week, driving short distances around town, shopping, attending meetings etc. So keep your hopes UP!!.

She's still not quite back to 100% but she's getting there.

Gentleman start the raffle.

I say forget the saw, let us all just send $5 now, and hold off on the saw.

I am broke as hell right at the moment, but I will still paypal $5 right now
to the address given to get it started, everyone else do the same, then
we can worry about the raffle.

Chime in and say "I did it!".

Well maybe something other than "I'm in".

How about everyone send $5 anyway, if I get my electric bill paid, I might join the raffle too, but the pure donation would be better all around,
more bonus points in chainsaw heaven.......
