I've learned many years ago that a man has nothing without family.

As is so common these days, the trend to say Happy Holidays, I'm not going to follow that beaten path. Merry Christmas Crappie!!!! After all, that is the season. Gather the family around the fire and admire the weather!

This is the 3rd time I have tried to post this because my power keeps going out.

Thank you, Keith for the warm wishes and I wish the same for you and your's and everyone on this site. May God bless everyone thru this season and thru the next year.

The big storm has hit us here in Iowa. We had freezing rain this morning, melting rain this afternoon and evening, and now more freezing rain. Snow is to follow, maybe as much as 20 inches. Storming thru Saturday. Looks like my wife and I will be spending Christmas alone, not a bad thing but, would be nice to see some of the relatives as we were planning.

Sure, the woodstove will keep us warm but, without power, how can I get my Arborist Site "Fix" without power?

What's being hyped as worse than the Halloween blizzard has begun here in the Big Woods and I just got done filling the boiler. The wind is whipping pretty good and snow is beginning to drift. 1" or so is already down but they say up to 2' by Christmas day in the evening. I was going to cut a load of wood today but helped my farmer friend finish his corn harvest instead.

All the hatches are battened down and we're ready to wait out the storm and hoping for a very merry and cozy Christmas for everybody.

I've got family coming over, 4 generations of it to be exact. What I think is funny is when they all come over they come almost naked cause of the temp I keep my house at. Guess the Yukon/eagle hybrid is too much for them.

Boy does that paint a picture in my mind...thanks for sharing that.

I'll be leaving work here in a few....I've got a turkey in the brine that's ready for the smoker.....it's gonna be a great Christmas dinner tommorow at Mom's.
