I had a guy call me for 4 cords of wood. He lived way out in the country. I told him he could most likely find it cheaper from a local. He had just moved to the area in the last year or so. He said he couldn't find any dry wood and to go ahead and bring it. I took the first 2 cords and when I got there he had a small log pile and a newer splitter there. His son lived next door and that's where the other 2 cords went on my second trip. His son was in his early 30's and in decent shape. He was telling me that he had been laid off and was starting a new job on Monday. He and his dad live on 18 wooded acres. They had a log pile from when the house was built and a newer swisher splitter. Yet they were to lazy to cut wood. Hey spent over 1k on 4 cords of wood. I couldn't figure that on out.

They gave you a thousand dollars for wood? Im in the wrong business.:dizzy:

It was 4 cords. When people buy a cord or more I cut the price to $270 a cord. They pay by the fraction based on a cord price of $300-330.

I have a tw6 too lol

Firewood sold south of my place goes $300 or better a cord. Anything north of here is advertised as low as $125 a cord. There is always a difference in product, and that too effects the prices. 16" small split oak is worth a bit more than quartered mixed hardwood. Did you make an offer on the logs, and splitter since they weren't using them...?

The logs weren't enough to offer on for me. I didn make an offer on the splitter. I don't know what would do with it maybe make my nephew use it. Or hold on to it until my son is old enough to split. He didn;t want to sell it though. Maybe next time

Similar deliveries here, pull up and they have their own splitting/stacking area, sometimes a few acres of woods even.

They may be like me I get my wood free use a tw6 and still see a lot of labor given away at 150.00 per cord. I will tell you if I was busier I would pay the 150.00 and forget all about firewood production.

It may just be me, but if someone helps out my livelihood, I wouldn't be calling them anything except for "friend" or "customer".

Some sellers on here often wonder what happened to their customers or why they aren't selling as much wood... maybe, just maybe, people have seen themselves on the internet!

That depends on circumstance and if you had to lower standard of living to that of a third world nation to obtain their work, while they powder their arse with 500.00 an ounce talcum!

6 pickup loads for $300

The weather has kept me off all of my harvesting sites for almost 2 months now - with two very brief exceptions so I finally had to call in a load of wood. it looks as though the next few weekends are going to pile even more snow on what we have so there is no hope for harvesting for more than a month.

Found a guy on craigslist offering a tandem dump truck load of rounds 18-24" long and up to 24" diameter for $200. I paid an extra $100 in fuel cost (we live in BFE) and tipped him $40. Total delivery was about 5-6 pickup loads, I figure 2.5-3 cords of seasoned, debarked, ready to burn hardwoods. This is the best deal I have seen yet.

I hate paying for wood, but sometimes you just have to go for it.

Blast away with both barrels... it will be fine.

I guess if people got to me that bad and made me so miserable as some seem to do people on here, I would move onto something else...

Ok what has not been flooded with the illegal labor market? The rich have ruined the American dream with their greed. I see it all over, construction, treework anything they can infiltrate they ruin. You people up there don't have them so bad yet but they will be there soon taking from your children's mouths. All because some rich man thinks he needs a better than fair deal.

$110 per full cord here....you guys getting 300$....you got it going on.

We have the illegals up here, too! We also have the companies bringing in Puerto Ricans to replace the illegals now.

So, I agree with that part... all of this bad mouthing of the customers that give their money up for wood is the part I don't understand?

I have not heard bad mouthing maybe confusion over why they would pay when they have ample resource but yeah I guess in a way it is talking smack. I am sick of the other and feel it's high time for a change and one that don't mean amnesty for criminals either!

That's a good price in STL!! Just down the road here by Springfield you can buy a cord of wood for $100 + del. fee. That's cheap! I really don't know why I keep cutting wood and splitting it. I guess I enjoy it!

I think there is a lot of guys without work and it's easy money for them. I wouldn't trust them if they say it's seasoned though. I would have to buy it and let it sit at least a yr.
