I typically burn about 10-12 face cord of wood to heat my house over a winter.
I'm behind this year, have maybe 4-5 face cord as of now.
A local guy is selling a dump trailer load of logs for $100 plus a small delivery/mileage charge. He says its mostly ash and maple, which is good by me since I burn a lot of that anyways.
Seems like a good deal to me.
Any experts want to estimate how many face cord are on this trailer?
He says the trailer is 12' long, 6' wide with 40" tall side walls.

I've come to the conclusion that "face cord" is kind of a localized measurement, so I have no comment on how many "face cord" are in the trailer. But I will give my opinion that the load is worth $100. If you have a good place this source can unload this trailer for you to process, I'd vote good deal.

Well worth $100. I'd take several if he'll deliver to SW PA for that price!

A load 12'X6'X3.33' would be about 1.875 cords (4x4x8 or 128 cubic feet). Common face cord means 1/3 cord which would make 5.6 face cords. Arguments about conversions from logs to rounds to split volume would apply.

Well, I messaged him today, he said with delivery $120 a load, but all he has left is limb wood. So that really isn't as tempting.
