Stihls site has listed a 650 for quite some time and id almost go get one if i knew what the cut corners on to make it cheaper than the 660. I like the specs but i just cant bring myself to pick one up in the near future if i dont know whats what with them.

i cant recall now but it does turn out the same HP rating rite? how much smaller are we talkin? I could buy one wear it out and then put BB kit on it.

checked stihls site. the difference is about 5cc. not much but enought to cause some power loss. I could send it to brad once i get it good and worn in if i even buy one. I hear brads time is pretty spendy though. I think if i can afford that saw i can afford brads time.

Looks like the MS 650 is absent from the 2010 catalog but still on the US website. Maybe they are phasing this model out since it is so close to the more popular 660.
This could mean a deal on a 650 if a couple of dealers want to clear their out inventory...something to think about.
I know I'd consider one if the price was right...still a lot of saw.

I have one and love it. Saved a couple hundred over a 660. I don't think the power difference is that much of a big deal for most. And as others have mentioned, if it blows up, put a big bore kit on it. Good saw. I use mine pretty hard, flushing stumps before grinding, etc., and it is holding up very well.

Stihl isn't making the MS650 any more, what's on dealers shelves, and in distributor invetory is it. Along with the MS650, the MS310, MS390, MS230, are gone along with the FS80 R trimmer.
Here in the Northeast the MS650 is 50$ more than a MS460 and 150$ cheaper than a MS660.

Difference is $100 or so and about 5cc. Serveral love the saw for stumping, seems to have more torque, but less power...if that makes any sense.

Deals to be had out there. I know NE had them on clearance buy awhile back.

It just enough saw to be too much for here. so ill probly hunt one down and see if i can get it.

Sure would be nice to have a strato saw that big. Or how about a Stratoed 880?

Have you ever hefted an 076 a few miles out in the brush? 60 plus feet into a tree?

I'm impressed with most of the Strato units so far...not sure how excited I am to see something like the 880 go on Michael Moore diet...

nope i have not. only thing i dont like about the strato saws is they produce the same power but are heavier.
