The FPS is really close, but the bc of the 7mm 200g wildcat bullet is .9.

.9 is very good, the only thing close to that would be the 338 lapau @ .785.

50 BMG is still the long range king a with perfect 1 BC.

Man I'm in good company here

I'm a gun guy from day one. Long as I have my guns you can TRY to take my saws but you might have a real bad day.

Far as the EPA goes they are trying to get rid of lead wheel weights in the interest of safety or some crap the same way they are trying to screw up our perfectly good chainsaws with stupid clogged up mufflers. I'm a bullet caster too and have been collecting wheel weights for year to cast with but the guy in the Republik of Kalifornia are having a time with the total lead ban of everything there.

One of the issues is that when it comes to bullets or wheel weights there ain't no cost effective way except to use lead.

..........can't wait to try to lift my first four-stroke 250cc chainsaw....:jawdrop:

45-70 rules...........

Looks like the Weatherby 338-378 is similar: 200g BST .338 bullet @ 3350 fps with BC of .414. The 30-378 has a higher BC, better for long range shooting (nothing like the BMG though).:D

Yes, I have an HS Precision custom take down in 30-378 with a 29" a barrel that can launch 220's@ 3200fps into a 1/4" at a 100 yards. I'll take it over a 50 for what I foresee. Although, I also have a 50 if need be. Don't think I'll need it. The flying fortresses and quad 50's will have taken care of us well before then. I'd rather have the mobility.

you guys talking about .250'' groupes @ 100 yds have got to be ####ting me.

my G-pops has 4 dozen 700 BDLs that can shoot dead at 200... mostly 25-06 & 7rem. . .

Ide bet that with him behind the butt, they would average a .250 @ 400 yds, mind thats from the top of a willeys steering wheel . . .

Why so many? If the time comes, you can only shoot one at a time. I regularly shoot at a 600 yard military range and can still maintain less than MOA with certain set ups. It's getting more difficult with these old eyes. However, there is a lot more to it, as I'm sure your Pop's would tell you.

The gunsmith that built the gun gave me a bunch of wildcat cartridges, and a couple of .50 cases along with some bullets. I have an all brass lathe turned rebated boat tail .50 cal bullet that weighs 781 grains and is 2.625 long. I wonder what the bc is on that one?

Not hard to calculate but, you need to plug in some other variables.

i may be sounding foolish here, but I have watched my father & gradnfather amaze me everytime they pulled out a rifle. My dad can kill ground squirrels consistantly with an open sighted ruger 10-22 @ 100 yds.. My Grandfather let me kill my first buck with a rifle that I watched with my own eyes him fire 5 rounds, one on top of the other into a silver dollar size target @ 300yds. same gun that I could nail 200 yds consistantly(Bakersfiled CA sunny low wind day). Mind I can ting fence posts @ 25 yds with my vaquero all day.

This is not a gun website, but I will brag on my families abilities to shoot guns cause what I have seen, they are really good at it. . . .
