Has anyone ever heard of Aspen fuel? It was posted by a prominent member of another forum. I have no idea how much this stuff costs but apparently it is available some places in Canada and all over the place in Europe. I'm sure that it is not cheap but it seems that it would be a great fuel for saws, especially older collectible ones as it doesn't attack soft components such as fuel line, diaphrams, etc. They claim that their fuel doesn't degrade over time and can safely be stored in saws for extended periods without damage to the saw.

I've heard of it but i don't know much about it other than it's cleaner burning.

I would love a stable clean burning fuel alternative for my chainsaw! Does anyone know of it's availability in the US?:)
 
There is a lot of talk in Europe about the health benefits of using aspen 2.
No more headaches as it burns cleaner!

Of course if it burns cleaner then the environment benefits as well. We owe everything to that including our jobs.

I was going to bring this up as i am looking for an alternative fuel for my saw. Thanks Deprime for bringing it up.

Don't get me wrong here - i love the chainsaw, but I am tired of the headaches from the fumes i get sometimes... :bang:

I just emailed the supplier in Canada on the aspen website and a supplier in the UK on mailing this stuff here. I'll post there responses if i get one...
 
They need to hire a web site designer. That's beyond lame!

You can forget getting it "mailed". It's gasoline. It's not crossing the border without a lot of red tape.
 
All my saws are run exclusively on Aspen - it keeps what it promise, very user friendly! :clap::clap:

As far as I know, Mike Acres is the North Americal agent.
 
It is purported to be a good product in Europe; it seems to be the standard for professional power equipment there in most countries, even where it would be possible to make your own mix from pump fuel.

It is expensive there, I think normally to the tune of $10+ per gallon

By the time it makes its way here, if it's made in sweden, it wil be very expensive most likely.

As I understand it's basically a by product of refining petrol, so it shouldn't be that hard to have someone make it here. THe problem is that all the manufs think that there is a very limited market.

Most pros are fine with E10 running through it fast.

The price here is about twise the price of pump fuel, but that includes the mix oil.
As it is premixed, you can't go wrong with the mix ratio, and you can store it for years!

I am not sure where it actually is made.
 
Over here in the UK it is distributed by aaoil "Anglo American Oil Company Ltd"
but at £3.98 about $6.40 per litre :jawdrop: I wont be using for daily usage:dizzy:
 
Yep we have ran on it for the last 3 years, before that I always used pump petrol and mixed, always felt ill off the smell and just the arse on with mixing your own, and having to test the mix to make sure the last one to fill the fuel actualy added oil (seized a 036 that way).

dont know too much of the tech specs but i know its a cleaner more convenient fuel to use for us.
I ran a couple of tanks through the old jobu junior, seems all good but im keeping an eye on it..
 
I bet there is a oil lobby keep it out of the states. It might hurt their bottom line if there is some competition. They sell it in Canada and Europe, but not the states. I thought it was a byproduct of the oil industry anyways. They probably ship it out of the states but wont sell it here.

Why would we want a fuel that burns clean anyways?

That is worse than here, despite our sky high taxes on fuel! :jawdrop:

It is sold by Husky and Jonsered here, maybe by more brands as well, but not by Stihl. Stihl has their own alky mix (called Motomix), but that one doesn't smell good when used.......

He is a member on here I believe, but keeps a low profile (not very active).

gotta remember its 8 in the evening over here;)
 
They are shoving the Ethanol down our throats and it ruining our saws.

I'd like a choice. If they thought about it they would just make the more expensive stuff here and make even more money from us.
